Target Iran

If anyone has any doubt about the kind of nuclear work Iran has been doing for the past 18 years, it must be a case of naiveté compounded by gullibility. Nor should there be any uncertainty about what Iran's mullahocracy would do with a nuclear weapon.

"Iran, says this report, has developed an extensive web of front companies, official bodies, academic institutes and middlemen dedicated to obtaining - in Western Europe and in former Soviet republics, the expertise, training and equipment for nuclear programs, missile development, and biological and chemical weapons arsenals.

The document, says the Guardian, lists scores of Iranian companies and institutions involved in the arms race. It also details Tehran's determination to perfect a ballistic missile capable of delivering warheads far beyond its borders. Iran is trying to extend the range of its Shahab-3 missile, which has a range of almost 1,000 miles, capable of reaching Israel."

I think the Iranian regime wants us to bomb them. They do not want a ground invasion, obviouly, and they realize that at the moment, and for at least the short-term future, the US cannot manage a ground invasion. But the US can throw some bombs around and blow up things. This would be something of a setback for the Iranian government, but it would probably be effective in cementing their power (or at least they think it would be); it would be further proof of American imperialism and thus further calcify Middle Eastern- and world- opinions against the US.

Now, Mahmoud may just be absolutely crazy- which is a distinct possibility- or his rhetoric and recent actions may be just what I've described, an attempt to force the US's- or perhaps even better Israel's- hand and unleash limited military action.

If we do end up going to war with Iran I hope we fight a total war like we did against Japan. We should hit them with everything we have and only stop when there's nothing left of their military and nobody left to fight for it.

I just want you to know that suicide bomber photo never left my head all day - and I wonder who was going to write his family a 25K check, Saudia Arabia or Iran?

That we hadn't launched a pre-emptive strike against Iran to this date is beyond me.

So who is running the pool? I'll say Jan, 2007.

I suspect one reason may be that President Bush knows the rats will skewer him. Heck, he can't intercept Al Quaida email without the socialist establishment screeching for his impeachment.

On the other hand, as with Iraq, I like to think he will do what is right. For all we know, he could be talking with the congressional leadership behind the scene for just such an eventuality.

"I suspect one reason may be that President Bush knows the rats will skewer him."

The RATs would skewer President Bush if he were to single-handedly wipe out world poverty, ignorance and disease tomorrow morning. Of that I have no doubts.

"On the other hand, as with Iraq, I like to think he will do what is right. For all we know, he could be talking with the congressional leadership behind the scene for just such an eventuality."

I have never doubted for a moment that President Bush will do what is necessary to eliminate any threat to our country and our way of life, with the possible exception of our border situation with our "neighbors" to the south. Sooner or later he is going to be compelled to address that issue with a high degree of seriousness.

That picture defines the word naiveté, and exemplifies the cheap political expediency and cowardice of the Clinton administration. That one picture says as much as a one-hour speech on the subject of naiveté. It is a perfect example of human folly and a climactic moment in the history of naive human behavior. In the history of naiveté, that picture is a tour de force.

Our snipers got quite a few of them, and rarely has this accomplishment ever made the news for security reasons.

When its all over, the US Marine and SOG snipers will have their stories told.

If people knew that story, they would know one thing: We have NOT lost.

The bombers do not control the streets of Iraq. We do. I hope an Al Jezeera reporter saw that photo too while it was up.
