The generation that spawned you, the "me generation".
I don't remember us Boomers wishing that the generations before us would die, do you?
Pretty telling about THIS generation, IMO.
Thanks for saying that Cagey. It deserves repeating. Two of the members of my graduating class ('65) are on that Wall.
I'd say they were also the people who fought in Vietnam, elected Reagan, ended the cold war, created the conservative revolution, and fueled the greatest economic expansion in history, and you want them to go away?
I'd suggest you curb your stereotypes and realize that the crap you watch on TV about the 60s generation isn't reality, and isn't even close. It's just more leftist agiprop that ain't much different than it was 60 years ago when the so-called "Greatest Generation" had a government solution for every problem and was riddled with Stalin worshopers willing to betray the country in a minute. BTW. Jane Fonda and her rat pack are not "Boomers". They are all well past 60.
It appears that lots of these punks have major issues with their parents.
Back in 1982, there was a huge Newsweek issue devoted to the fact that the Baby Boomers had "discovered" parenthood. In the 1990's, Newsweek did a huge cover story devoted to the Boomers "discovering" menopause.
The parody went something like: 1980's - "Wow! Babies!"
1990's - "WOW!! Menopause!!"
2000's - "WOW!!! - Incontinence and Senility!"
"I don't remember us Boomers wishing that the generations before us would die, do you?"
Actually, the boomer generation wished IT would die before it got old...a la the Who's "my generaton."
These chickens coming home to roost are poopin all over the place..yuck..
Not all of us...I am just a bit to the right of Attilla the Hun. Hippie boomers make me puke...I am surrounded by them in leftist New England. But not for long...
The generation, as a whole, cannot go away fast enough for me.

Hey! Some of us are conservative Freepers.
There has always been some debate about when the "Boomer Generation" started. I consider myself a boomer because I was born in December '45, just about nine months after my father's Air Group rotated back from the Pacific. On the other hand, my wife is a July '45 baby whose father was not in the service, so she is probably a boomer only by dint of having married one.
Of course, "your" generation is too dumb to realize that those people you saw all over TV represneting "our" generation didn't represent anybody except the few malcontents like you see on TV now, right?
Or do the dopeheads, airheads, rappers, and tattooed freaks represents all of "your" generation?
Every generation has had people who created "muck". For example, during the 50's what genretation were all those commies in the state department from? And before that, how about all those Roosevelt New Dealers?
The Baby Boomers are the first generation to be raised almost entirely on television and its dangerous mixed-message Cronkite consequences. Further, the raise in tax rates forced many families into dual income necessities which increased pressures on women to be everything to everyone. Sure, few baby boomers went hungry as they were stuffed with twinkies and hoho's and now have obesity and heart attacks to contend with rather than rickets and malnutrition. And let's not forget being taught to duck and cover while being raised on 10-12 years of living color war scenes and an impeding draft. Sure this is baby boomer whining but boomers were raised listineing to great depression whiners and the "greatest generation" whiners. Baby boomer parents got to complete a war in only 4 years, were treated as the heroes when they returned and were given hefty vet benefits as their deserved award. Why not have a little consideration for the Boomers who had their own set of challenges, faced by no other generation? My point is that every generation has its challenges (and fools who claim to speak for them). To single out baby boomers as unique in some way, ignores history.
I'd guess that the majority of Freepers are Boomers.
Now, now; don't argue with Generation Know-It-All.
Actually, the boomer generation wished IT would die before it got old...a la the Who's "my generaton."

Good one!
I thought the thread might go eight or nine posts before the bashing kicked in...it only took to #2.
The very negative attitude of some in the post-boomer generations is amazing. How sad not to acknowledge that many did not join in with all the drugs, anti-war, hippie etc crap. My husband served in Vietnam and earned a Purple Heart and other honors, we both avoided the whole '70's scenario on campus and off as well. Like many others, we've lived charitable, productive lives. Some of us boomers have always been at odds with the vocal members of our generation who seem to symbolize us all.

The X-Y generations are also the Hip-Hop, RAP, slacker, Baby-Daddy, Bling-Bling, Britney Spears, MTV, never leave home, always whining generation and can't grow up fast enough for me.
