Boxer Impeachment Letter
Boxer senator online ^ | 12/19/2005 | Barbara Boxer

Posted on 12/19/2005 6:48:51 PM PST by stocksthatgoup

Boxer’s letter is as follows:

On December 16, along with the rest of America, I learned that President Bush authorized the National Security Agency to spy on Americans without getting a warrant from a judge. President Bush underscored his support for this action in his press conference today.

On Sunday, December 18, former White House Counsel John Dean and I participated in a public discussion that covered many issues, including this surveillance. Mr. Dean, who was President Nixon’s counsel at the time of Watergate, said that President Bush is “the first President to admit to an impeachable offense.” Today, Mr. Dean confirmed his statement.

This startling assertion by Mr. Dean is especially poignant because he experienced first hand the executive abuse of power and a presidential scandal arising from the surveillance of American citizens.

Given your constitutional expertise, particularly in the area of presidential impeachment, I am writing to ask for your comments and thoughts on Mr. Dean’s statement.

Unchecked surveillance of American citizens is troubling to both me and many of my constituents. I would appreciate your thoughts on this matter as soon as possible.

Sincerely,
Barbara Boxer
United States Senator

I'm surprised none have come out and said the completely obvious, Boxer is a Senator, she does not have the power to impeach, that comes from the House...the cheap b&^*% is talking with her foot in her mouth, as usual for the dumbo left that don't even know the Constitution.

I was saying on some other threads - listening to the ABC and CBS national radio feeds tonight - they are both on an "impeachment footing". the MSM coverage, this Boxer letter, the Feingold statement - this is their next move.

Hey Barbs - your presidential candidate is a confessed war criminal. How is it that he still holds a Senate seat?

John Dean was the architect of the Watergate break in. That is not in dispute. Neither is the fact that he initiated that operation without Richard Nixon's approval. What Nixon did was agree to the cover up in order to protect "his people" who he thought were working for his interests and the country's.

According to the book Silent Coup Dean organized the break in to cover up his then girl friends involvement with a prostitution / blackmail ring being run out of the the DNC HQ there. They were looking for evidence of that operation in order to protect her. Dean later married her (she even testified at the hearings).

Hardly someone I would look to for legal advice.

Unless they can get 2/3 of the house to vote in their favor, it isn't going to happen.

Here's my advice Barbara. Find some moonbats in the House to draw up Articles of Impeachment, the ensuing debate will relegate democrats to the minority for generations to come.

Regards,

John

It's here. Wait until Congress is back in session after Christmas. It's going to be ugly, ugly, ugly.

Start your files with articles you see here that support our position because we're all going to have to educate Republican Congressmen when they get back.

They'd best stand up for the president in this matter.

But President Bush spoke today and explained the difference, several times, between monitoring and intercepting.

Monitoring is what he is accused of yet that is not what was authorized and performed. He even explained that monitoring would be eavesdropping on a call (he gave the example) between LA and Houston.

What he authorized is intercepting incoming calls to the USA to people with known ties to terrorists.

Or am I missing something here?

Are you talking about those Muslims in Lodi who were arrested after the FBI discovered they had attended terrorist training camps in Pakistan, Babs?

2/3rd of the senate.

frankly, given the spine of some republican senators - we stand a better chance of stopping this in the House.

..."the first President to admit to an impeachable offense."

Impeachable offense? Mr. Dean and Mizzzzzzz Boxer ought to do some research before openeing their freakin' pie holes.

If they did, they would know that section 1802 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act is titled "Electronic Surveillance Authorization Without Court Order".
The would also know that it states; "Notwithstanding any other law, the President, through the Attorney General, may authorize electronic surveillance without a court order under this subchapter to acquire foreign intelligence information for periods of up to one year".

Great, huge majorities favor life over infinitesimal loss of liberty. The White House knows it which is why they came out with guns blazing.
