Obama says Republicans practice "Social Darwinism"

Republicans controlling the federal government practice Social Darwinism, a discredited philosophy that in economics and politics calls for survival of the fittest, according to a Democratic U.S. senator. Sen. Barak Obama of Illinois, a fast-rising Democratic star, told Florida party members that only a philosophy among Republicans of sink or swim explains why some Hurricane Katrina victims in New Orleans still live in cars while Republicans in Washington prepare next week to enact $70 billion in tax breaks.

"It's called the 'Ownership society' in Washington. This isn't the first time this philosophy has appeared. It used to be called Social Darwinism," Obama said late Saturday at the Democrats meeting at Walt Disney World.

"They have a philosophy they have implemented and that is doing exactly what it was designed to do. They basically don't believe in government. They have a different philosophy that says, 'We're going to dismantle government'," Obama said.

Republicans running the federal government believe, "You are on your own to buy your own health care, to buy your own retirement security ... to buy your own roads and levees," Obama said, referring to flood barriers that gave way in New Orleans during Katrina last August.

Obama, the only African American now in the U.S. Senate, gave the keynote address at the annual meeting of Florida Democrats.

Social Darwinism applies Charles Darwin's theory of natural selection from biology to human culture. Popular in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the theory advocates free competition and a minimalist role for government in society. Darwin himself rejected the application of natural selection to human society.

Read the history of Renaissance [say, "the Prince" with its survival of the fittest],

I do not know where to start.

Renaissance was a result of centuries of development, it was not a cause of it. And where Machiavelli promotes Social Darwinism? Also are you saying that theories of Machiavelli were the cause of Renaissance?

Actually, human progress has occurred when the best and the brightest were allowed to apply their talents to the fullest extent possible, which is why the Medieval period, when the influence of the Roman Church was at its peak was, with a few notable exceptions, a period of cultural retardation in Europe.

The Republicrats are hyper egalitarians, at least when a camera is focused on them. Equality of outcome is the name of the game for both parties, but believe me the gimmicrats are the fouler of the two.

You are very mistaken. It was during the Medieval period when the Western Civilization was created. Later generations were using what they inherited. See my tagline.

Some rich kids think that they are smarter than their parents because their parents worked hard, were poor before they gained wealth, and even after that they lived frugally.

I'm sure all the jokes about n*gers goes over his head as the Democrats say them.

You're not kidding. I live in Southern Illinois which is Democrat central and they all keep their power by promising the same things over and over again to the East St. Louis population - extremely poor, terrible education, no discipline, and no responsibility and 100% black.

These Democrats around here keep East St Louis like a plantation, trapping each new generation with promises and giving the chosen few "overseers" just enough of a taste of wealth and power that they keep the rest of the population is line. Meanwhile the word n*ger passes their lips each time they see a black person and the jokes they tell are unreal. When the feds tried to break it up and prosecute voter fraud (mysterious addresses, dead people voting, paying $5 per vote, etc) they couldn't make a case because the judges are all bought and paid for, the juries are made up of the people who get paid to vote and ALL of the local politicians have been doing it since before I was born.

It's absolutely sickening. And what's worse is the black "leaders" in the community that take the scraps from the Democratic table and turn their "people" into the laughing stock of society, the useful idiots of the Democratic party. they've ingrained this into these people for so long that they will NEVER change the way the general public perceives blacks until they break this Slave-Master relationship. That's right Mr. and Mrs. African-American, each time you vote for a Democrat you help keep the people of East St Louis, and the uran regions like it including NOLA, as slaves. And all the money you throw their way does nothing but make you feel better about yourself and the overseers leather furniture a little bit more expensive.

Barack Obama was born at the Queen's Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii to Harvard University-educated economist Barack Hussein Obama, Sr., a native of Kenya, and S. Ann Dunham, of Wichita, Kansas. Obama writes in Dreams from My Father that one of his mother's Kentucky ancestors "was rumored to have been a second cousin of Jefferson Davis". This statement, itself neither proven nor disproven by genealogical investigation, has been incorrectly interpreted as Ms. Dunham being a descendant of the Confederate president[1]; she is also said to be part Cherokee [2].

At the time of Obama's birth, both his parents were students at the East-West Center at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Barack means "blessed" in Swahili.

Of his years in Hawaii, Obama has written, "The irony is that my decision to work in politics, and to pursue such a career in a big Mainland city, in some sense grows out of my Hawaiian upbringing, and the ideal that Hawaii still represents in my mind."

When Obama was two years old, his parents divorced. His father eventually returned to Kenya, and he saw his son only once more before his death in 1982. Ann Obama married another East-West Center student from Indonesia. In his early childhood while growing up with his mother, Barack used the name 'Barry'. The family then moved to Jakarta, where Obama's half-sister Maya was born (Obama has other half-siblings from his father's other marriages). When Obama was ten he returned to Hawaii under the care of his grandparents, and later his mother, for the better educational opportunities
It was during his time spent here that Obama became a Christian and joined the Trinity United Church of Christ.
Although as a top graduate of Harvard Law, Obama could have taken his pick of high-paying law firm jobs, he returned to serving as a community organizer in Chicago. Obama organized an aggressive voter registration effort that registered over 100,000 voters and aided in the election of President Bill Clinton and Senator Carol Moseley Braun. Soon after, he joined a local civil rights law firm, and he became a lecturer of constitutional law at the University of Chicago.

Leave it to micro-cephalic Democrats like Obama to first advance Darwinism and then to immediately reject it. LOL. They are such losers.

Mothership to Dimocratz: Here are your far-reaching and innovative campaign planks.

1. Attack the Republicans over Social Security. The evil Republicans will steal it from the poor chillun and old people.

2. Demand a raise in the minimum wage.

3. Demand universal health care for everyone.

Gee, does that sound familiar? It's been the Dim strategy every election for God knows how long. (Am I still allowed to say God?)

lol. Such ignorant twaddle.

The "ownership society" stuff is a successor not of SD but of distributionism, a christian democracy position from the 20s and 30s that saw the only problem with capitalism as not enough people owning capital. It was directly in opposition to SD which it denounced as a heresy. It wanted to replace renters with homeowners (there were no suburbs yet), favored small tradesmen and independent businessmen, etc. W gets it from his methodism, it is a typical CD position not an SD position.

The left never even tries to understand the right, they just make things up they think sound damning and throw it around as mud. Less thought in it that saying of the left "they are all just a bunch of flaming commies". And less accurate...
