Kidnappers Threaten to Kill Iraq Activists

BAGHDAD, Iraq - Al-Jazeera television broadcast a videotape Friday in which kidnappers of four Christian peace activists threatened to kill their hostages unless all prisoners in U.S. and Iraqi detention centers are released. The kidnappers gave the two governments until Dec. 8 to meet their demands, Al-Jazeera quoted a statement delivered with the tape as saying.

The tape showed what the broadcaster said were two Canadian hostages. An American and a Briton are also being held. All four appeared frightened.

The Canadians were shown eating from plates of what appeared to be Arabic sweets. In a second clip, the British and American hostages were shown to talking to the camera but no audio was transmitted.

The two were calling on the U.S. and British governments to withdraw from Iraq, Al-Jazeera reported, quoting a statement from the kidnappers, who earlier identified themselves as the Swords of Righteousness Brigade

P.S. I like the implication in your tagline. Jesus' action in the temple is evidence against the pacifism that peaceniks try to misconstrue from the "blessed are the peacemakers" beatitude. More peace has resulted from just fighting than has ever come from pacifism.

Really? First, let me say how much that upsets me. I can barely type through the tears. So, I guess you would not be joyful at the death of Hitler, Pol Pot, Stalin, Bin Ladin? Interesting that ALL human life is equal to you. Even though the position taken by these "peace activists" is costing the lives of our service men & women because they and their ilk try to weaken our moral standing in this war and lift the enemy's morale while our soldiers are in the field of battle. I am ashamed of you and those like you who would even consider the lives of 100 of these collaborators equal to JUST ONE of our warriors. Are you praying every night that al-Zarqawi is "arrested" rather than blown to pieces so that he can live a long life? If not, you certainly don't want him KILLED do you?! Oh, how shameful to think that way!

Perhaps these peace activists can engage their captors in peaceful and constructive dialog and help them to see the commonality of all human cultures and the genuine need for all men to accept each other as brothers.

Or maybe they will get really lucky and enough of their bodies will be found so that their families can have a funeral.
