I hope you come up with some ideas. I am still amazed at the number of movies and TV shows that I see that have Bill Clinton inserted into the show in a favorable light. He got so much free publicity, it's staggering.

Amazing how arrogant Congress critters are about their "Co equal branch of Govt" status until we actually ask them to lead on anything. Then it is "Why isn't Bush DOING something about this". Also interesting to watch Freepers who should know better. Funny how the Bash Bush Always crowd never seems to grasp the concept that CONGRESS controls the purse strings. It is always "why isn't Bush doing anything about Spending" never ever seem to criticize their Congressperson for it.

Yep. That's what made me think about it.

I think a case should be made for selectively using Hollywood folks with the President. How about getting Bruce Willis to appear with the President in support of the troops? We need to find Hollywood people who are obsessed with something and if it is at all compatible with the administration's ideas, get them to the White House for a photo op.

There are lots of NFL guys who would be willing to help, maybe with physical fitness or anti-drug stuff, as well as troop support.

But the Brad and Angelina story is the best one, right now. The President should call them to the White House (which Brad would hate but Angelia WOULD do) to find out what they say and what aid they think is needed. Is it pandering and cheap photo stuff? Maybe...but it would WORK.

I agree. As I've said, the Republicans are getting weak in the knees because of the 2006 elections and many of the Senators are thinking about running for POTUS in '08. You also stated that moderate Pubbies lose. I agree w that and also agree w Rush and others - -as I've said before, when Republicans run on a conservative platform (in most states - forget NY, CA, etc.) they win. Why many don't wake up and realize that is beyond me (we can probably forget the RINOs). Americans want men and women running the country (whether in Congress or as POTUS) who are leaders. There are many Republicans out there that need to get off their arses and act like LEADERS.

Well said, and I agree we need to make News to get the Media to pay attention. I will call up all those lightweight or backstabbing GOP Senators and tell them I will not support you for DOg Catcher if you do not stay off the media where you are useless to the GOP and yourselves. I will instruct them that I will work against them and get every pubbie I know to work against them, and the biggest reason is they are egotistical media suckups, and may well be named "Quisling" for all their trustworthiness.

Thanks for going through the agony of watching Chrissy and reporting back. I used to tune in now and then, but find it hard to stomach him much anymore.

I am curious. Bush did exactly what you are asking for on the war in pushing Social Security Reform.

I have continually addressed the Republican leadership in conjunction with the President.  Here you have chosen to address just the President.

What did it get him?

Well, since I have not asked the President to appear on television talk shows, this really has no bearing on our discussion.

How well did your "bully pulpit" work on that one?

My comments today were focused on urging the Republican leadership and the President to form some kind of consensus regarding how their side would perform in public discussions.  You have evaded that topic this whole thread, and continue to do so here.

As I keep pointing out. Doesn't do a lot of good to use the bully pulpit when the "Conservative" echo chamber spend more of their time echoing the DNC spin lines.

Well you say a lot of things here, but not much of it makes sense..

Can't deal with the subject we're discussin can you?  I say that it makes sense to place capable people on talk shows to defend our core values, and you wax rhapsodic on complainers.

Starting in Dec 2003 it was spending, then the border and immigration, then gas prices, Katrina response, the War etc etc etc.

Spending is a valid issue.  Border and immigration issues are fair game.  Gas prices are not.  Katrina Response is not.  The war is not.

If you need any more help with what are valid issues and what aren't, don't hesitate to ask.

LOL, not it's the old "they didn't support Bush to begin with conard".  Even you know this isn't all about Bush.  It's about our nation being defended by folks who acted like they have a dog in this hunt.  When ill-informed Republicans participate in talk shows, they contribute to the impression that the right has not got it's act together.  Is that more detrimental to Bush, or to the nation?

I suspect that no matter what Bush does the chronic whiners will still be whining.

Tell me, is it really leading to stand by and watch people on your side submarine your polices day in and day out?  These people are not doing Bush any favors by not defending his agenda, and Bush is not leading when he doesn't orchestrate meetings with the Republican leadership to help organize a united front against the leftists.

It is so much easier to be the Minority and just sit on the side lines and complain, complain, complain then to actually DO the messy job of leading.

That really is a wierd comment.  Who's the minority?  Who is sitting on the sidelines?  Who is leading?

Well, when you've adopted a policy that thinks any productive comment from the ranks should be trashed for not eminating from a team player regardless of the merits of the suggestion, you may be right.  Perhaps you should seek help.

The "Conservatives" got so use to being slapped around by Bill Clinton they simply no longer know how to win.

Would that be the conservatives that impeached Bill Clinton?  Would that be the conservatives who forced a balanced budget on Clinton?  Would that be the conservatives who launched a number of investigations of Clinton?  Would that be the conservatives who caught Clinton in perjury and cost him his ability to argue cases before the Supreme Court and ultimately his license to practice law?  Would that be the conservatives who forced Clinton to reveal his hand so that many in the nation understood that he had committed perjury, obstruction of justice, witness tampering and a myriad of other crimes?

Look at how Newt, one of the prime architects that got us here, got treated. It wasn't the Dems who did it to Newt, it was OUR supposed side.

And who on our side did that to Newt?  Was it the people on internet forums who dispised him?  No, it was the Bob Doles and Trent Lotts who crucified his arse.  Our people in D.C. have in many instances either sold us out, or have become so fat and complacent that they haven't a clue what's going on.  And yes, it does go back to Newt and before.

We have a majority in D.C., and we are not getting the bang for the buck.

Biden demonstrates, once again, why you can't play footsie with leftists on the Senate floor, or anywhere else. I hope one day before I'm no longer able to garner the strength to watch the Sunday morning blab shows to see a Republican stick it to a weasel like Biden. Senator Warner fashions a resolution to bring the "Club" together, again, just to have it crammed down his throat on some Sunday morning. Biden must have loved making this comment on MTP:

MR. RUSSERT: Senator, then why did you introduce the resolution? And words are important.

SEN. WARNER: Short answer to it: I felt it was very important to strike a bipartisan note...

SEN. BIDEN: ...there was a vote of no confidence. The 79 senators who voted for the language you just stated there were saying, "Mr. President, we want you to tell us what's the plan. What is your timetable?...

So much for your "bipartisan note" Senator Warner.

This is something I noted during the Clinton years, because it drove me crazy. They must have had some genius product placement expert working in the Clinton White House.

Hillary Clinton was the ONLY human being to ever appear on the cover of House Beautiful. Did you know that?

Martha Stewart (until the President had to admit lying to the Grand Jury) was going to do an entire feature on Clinton's birthday party she threw. (That was when I cancelled my charter subscription to her magazine.)

You couldn't open ONE magazine without seeing that guy, whether it was People, National Enquirer, or Tiger Beat.

I was convinced they had an ad genius at work when I opened an antique price guide and under "cast iron banks" (remember this was about antiques) there was a photo of a modern BILL CLINTON PLAYING THE SAXOPHONE bank!!! I about had a stroke.

The President has done some of this, granting interviews to Runner's World, for example. However, it isn't consistent and it isn't widespread enough.

Amazing post anita, as I read this it looks like one of the bloggers all but confirmed that CNN(now CNX) purposely put the "X" over Cheney's speech as an exercise in "their free speech". Wow what BS. They(CNX) admit their own bias. Sure makes our work easy.Great job anita

Good luck to you trying to work this conduit. Really sad. Clinton really did destroy the Presidency. Not about doing the right thing and leadership. Not about telling the truth to those around us even when it is uncomfortable for us. Doing our part to get the message out, Now we spend all our time on "how can we get the President to better manage the other sides spin machine". I got a better idea. How about we work real hard to destroy the Dinosaur Media rather then try to dream up ways to use it? Know what I really would like to see? Simply cut off the Press Corps. Kick them out of the WH. No more press briefings. No contact. Then spend all the time you waste on these bozo enemies giving one on one interviews to local radio and TV hosts, Bloggers and Talk Radio hosts. Simple freeze out the National Media. We don't need them, they DO need access to the WH. Use access as your weapon. Force them to cover what you say to Rush Limbaugh so that Rush can put the 1st spin on it rather then the hostiles in the Dinosaur Media. Quiting taking their calls, quit granting them interviews and put the fear of God into the leaker. The reward people like Brit Hume who are tough but fair with interviews and scoops. Simply treat them like the enemy they are.
