"One thing I find ironic, is that when a bill or amendment that is a "tough sell" comes up in the House or Senate...the politicians will sometimes through the media, gripe that President Bush, Cheney, Condi, or Rummy didn't "come down to Capitol Hill and push for it"... "
Oh geezzz. So, do they need the adults to come down and hold their hands and walk them through the bill so they can understand it or are their egos so big that they think the WH should come to them to get a bill passed, or both??
Firm but fair, in-depth coverage, and leave their phoney opinions off the air....
Your views on the news are correct and a major change is coming....
The fact is as you watch a certain segment of the Conservative Movement in action, all they do is complain. Starting in Dec 2003 it was spending, then the border and immigration, then gas prices, Katrina response, the War etc etc etc. In fact, I cannot remember a time when their support for Bush has been anything but extremely tepid. I suspect that no matter what Bush does the chronic whiners will still be whining. I think deep in their hearts the constant complainers REALLY don't like the messy job of leading. It is so much easier to be the Minority and just sit on the side lines and complain, complain, complain then to actually DO the messy job of leading. I think we got Battered Political Movement Syndrom going.
The "Conservatives" got so use to being slapped around by Bill Clinton they simply no longer know how to win. Look at how Newt, one of the prime architects that got us here, got treated. It wasn't the Dems who did it to Newt, it was OUR supposed side.
Then we have that old Hen Hillary, or is she just a shrew, maybe for the Bird Flu's sake we can make Hillary a Henshrew. Yeah that's the ticket.
Excellent photos post snugs, thanks.
"The Free Republic Sunday Morning Talk show featuring moderator Miss Marple,...
the possibilities are endless:
One show could be on LEGacy.....get samantha on with her sore LEG and sharp wit to do battle with ex Pres' Carter and Clinton. She'd take them to their knees even with her current disability!
or how about a show on US history....we invite Lynn Cheney to set Hillary, Nancy, and every Lib Lady to a discussion...Mrs. C. would wipe them away with their own wet tissues!
What an excellent take. It took me years to figure it out.

Bully pulpit really going to work great when you rely on THIS media as your conduit. Enjoy your more "forceful response". I suspect your joy will last about 12-18 hours then we will be right back to the "Why doesn't Bush fight back" dogma that is the new sacrament of the "Conservative" movement.
BTW, what happened to the 403-3 vote in the US House story? Even see the story mentioned this week in the Dinosaur Media after Saturday? They fought back wonderfully. What are WE talking about this week for the 900th time? Good luck winning the PR war fighting by your enemy's rules on their ground with their spin lines.
Pelosi is the shrew....
Hillary seems more like a crow than a hen...she only feeds on the dead issues where the outcome is assured
I live on an island....some call our seagulls "sky rats"....eerie, democ rats! Guess we ought to call the dems gulls!
They SAY that it shows that the President isn't working hard enough for whatever the bill or amendment is about...if he doesn't personally get involved...
What part of "President Bush doesn't play the "lip service" game"....do they not understand...
President Bush is a fun guy...and enjoys a good laugh, but I daresay...that he takes his job too seriously for the congresscritters to think that he isn't working hard enough on HIS end....I am sure he expects the congresscritters to work to do THEIR jobs equally as hard.
The President doesn't have a way to overcome the media as Reagan did. He can't demand air time like Reagan....the media has caught onto that and won't give time for speeches.
I think the reason that the President gives speeches during the day is that he is pretty sure to get coverage on cable; at night Fox would probably not pre-empt O'Reilly, given their recent track record, and MSNBC and CNN also can't be depended upon for evening coverage.
Those who should be dependable in defending the President are not. Many of the pundits (and we all know who they are) are more concerned with getting air time and book sales than in defending the President. The pundit coverage of Katrina was disgusting. Most jumped immediately on the "blame Bush" bandwagon.
And the Senators are even worse. Although there are some great senators who should be out there talking, they aren't invited to the shows. Instead, we get the same group of over-the-hill Bush-bashers, and thus the Republicans have low approval ratings as well as the President. I mean, if all I knew about Republicans was gleaned from watching Lugar and Warner, I would have a low approval rating for Republicans myself.
We REALLY need to think about how to counteract this problem, and I don't mean by letters to the editor. TV watchers don't read letters, for the most part. The doownturn in approval is with people who only watch the news.
President Bush is well-liked. That is hy he isn't shown much on network television. When people see and hear him, they like him and his numbers go up.
How can we get better people on the talk shows? How can we get more coverage of the President and the troops? THOSE are the questions that need answers. I still say teaming up with Angelina Jolie isn't a bad idea.
I had a lot of thoughts about Murtha and none of them good. He has been top dog on that appropriations committee, or second to top dog for so long when the Dems were in Control it goes back a long time. He has a lot of friends in high places in both parties being a wheeler dealer and having them kiss his feet for a little bit to be thrown their way. He knows all the Defense People at the Pentagon and all the contractors and the would be contractors and look at his brother that had his bank account padded. I believe that he has had kickbacks going for decades and maybe Pelosi knows about it and she is using the info to push his Popularity to slam the President and our Military. SOme of the Pubbies do not dare say anything about him because if they ever lose power he will be top dog again, and who knows what deals they made when they were still in the minority. This guy has the iron fist over thousands. I hope they investigate the hell out of this matter, he has waytoo much power and influence not to be crooked as a dogs hind leg. He reminds me of The Polish Prince from Chicago that was filthy dirty and finally got busted. I cannot remember his name right now.
You mean Dan Rostenkowski, who had a WAREHOUSE full of stuff he had "appropriated" from the House over the years, which was just an extra scandal after the fact. I happen to remember it because he had ANTIQUES, which REALLY made me angry.
You are right...and the Angelina Jolie comment is right on...do you know why I know that???
Because...of all of the stories that I have seen on Fox today, the one that made the most impression on me was the one with Angelina and Brad Pitt with Musharaff in Pakistan...and I was ready to come on FR and defend her, if she was blasted at all...which, luckily no one on FR has done, that I know of.
SO...if I (who really looks for biased reporting)...picked this story out...then you KNOW that casual viewers zeroed in on her story also.
The thought is very intriguing and the Ankle is getting better with such positive thoughts. Matching wits with Jimmah Carter would be like matching wits with the Rabbit he beat with the oar. Billie Carter had all the brains in the Family.
BTW...I am just now getting to watch the Fox Sunday Show..and Chris DID attempt to get Levin to admit that Levin and his cronies have totally "misled and mischaracterized" Bush's remarks leading up to the war...but, Levin never even acknowledged anything that Wallace said...
BRICKS, I say...it is like talking to bricks!!!
I think both Rush and Hannity have had a change of heart about mtp/tim probably thanks to us.
I think you'll find Pelosi relatives involved with Murtha as well, which would explain a some of this.
