That's right. When you base your agenda on shifting sands like the liberals do, then the polls help you swing and sway and twirl :)

there's a really old song that goes
"first you say you will, and then you won't, then you say you do, and then you don't.......

Like the song, sorta like trying to figure out the national will through polls....we'll never get a straight answer. Just do what's right and pray for the best!

Bush's current job approval rating stands at 34%, compared with a positive rating of 88% soon after 9/11, 50% at this time last year, and 40% in August.

At the same time, only a quarter of Americans polled give Democrats a positive rating in the latest poll, compared with 31% in August, while Republicans' approval ratings fell to 27% from 32%.

When I heard these figures presented this morning, they rattled them off pretty quickly.  The 27% figure applies to Republicans as a whole, while Bush actually stands at 34%.

http://online.wsj.com/public/article/SB113216347138199155-5Z1Ri_om8ITUbV_jD2bx6maguMY_20061116.html?mod=tff_main_tff_top

So yes, you have a hollow victory on this point.  I would say that whether Bush's approval is 27% or 34%, it is only there because he and the Republican leadership have allowed the leftists to spew in unison while the right sends out people unprepared to defend our core principles.  Instead of beating the left to a pulp on merit, we become engaged in an arguement and fail to win it conclusively.

Once again, our people need to talk on point with force if they are going to appear on the talking head programs.

We need too spend far less time repeating the Democrats talking points and far more time pointing out the fraud in the Democrat spin.

Wow, what a novel idea.  You might even place people on talk shows that could point out that fraud.  ( insert Herman Munter's "Duuuhhhh" right about here )

For example, we spent what, three days talking about how every Democrat was telling a different story about Iraq this fall then they did going as far back as 1998 and Clinton. Do we hear that picked up and repeated? No instead we get the 10,000th post telling us how Bush is blowing it and needs to do this or that. Frankly, most of us are tired of hearing this same refrain over and over and over and over and over. We are SICK of people sitting around waiting for someone to ride in and rescue them.

And some of us are sick of seeing folks without a clue try to lecture others on policy, all the while conveying their complete lack of comprehension skills.

How many letters to the Editor, calls to Talk Radio or email exchanges with "Journalists" posting them links to the facts on what Dems said then and are saying now have the Constant Complainers made this week?

Why must you constantly change the subject?  Has anyone objected to what you've suggested here?  No.  So what's the point?  The fact is, this administration and the Republican leadership ARE NOT GETTING THE MESSAGE OUT.  Republican approval stands at 27%, and the Democrats who rant like the devil's spawn, are only two points below us.

It is not helpful to have Republicans participate in public discussion without clarifying issues rather than muddying the waters.  So far you haven't come close to showing that you are capable of understanding this point.

How many people have they talked to about Iraq?

Once again, who objects to this?  This is just another red hering arguement lofted because you can't deal with the subject at hand.  Phone calls are nice, but presenting reasoned well thought out thoughts to millions is a much better way of reaching the masses.  Those representing our views are not achiving this.

I have done hundreds of contacts on Iraq. I do so every week. So do many other Freepers. Frankly we are sick and tired of stand on the sideline "Coaches" who spend all their time lecturing their own side.

Well big whoop de do.  And that has exactly what to do with the topic at hand, getting our message out when our side participates in a televised discussion?

The Dinosaur media is part of the ENEMY. They ARE NOT going to play fair with you unless they are dragged kicking and screaming to a story they simply cannot ignore. You all keep crying for Bush to act like Clinton and be better at manipulating the media. Well I hate to burst your bubble, but the Dinosaur Media is NOT going to allow any Republican the to manipulate them the way they allowed Clinton to. They were on Clinton's side, they will NEVER be on Bush's side.

I've seen some pretty ignorant people in my day, but you really take the cake.  If we were to listen to you, we'd be perfectly happy to have our people sit there like lumps on a log while the left presented well crafted arguements.  No, the media will not be on our side.  Is this something that just occurred to you?  You present it as if we didn't know that.  What we'd like to think is that elected Republicans would be. And we'd like to see those elected Republicans act like they had a brain in their head before they open their mouths.  You've got a problem with that?

Screaming for some new PR offensive is a waste of time, it is NOT going to happen.
<>Look, if our leaders cannot stand up and defend our core principles, then they don't belong there.  It's that simple. And if you don't understand that, then you don't belong here.

WE have to do it.

Oh  B.S.  You can make ten thousand calls and not influence one member of the public who will be going to the polls in November 2006.  I agree that those calls should be made to let our leaders know what we think, but "WE" cannot do it alone.

Anything that comes from the WH is immediately subject to hostile Dinosaur Media spin.

No problem, just so long as the people representing our side rebute the lies.  We cannot blame the public for not siding with us, if we're not going to clearly state why we are right and the left is wrong.

It will NEVER be reported the way you want.

More of the obvious...

But 1000 letters to a Republican Senator chastening them for voting with the crowd on the Warner Amendment or 5000 letters to a Journalist like Brit Hume giving him links to the record on what Democrats said in 1998 about Iraq WILL have an impact.

Once again, your evasion is glaringly obvious.  These things are part of the program, but they should not be lofted as a replacement for having capable intelligent people participate in public discsussions.

Less Handwrining, more action. Too many Freepers think because they log on here and post 500 posts complaining about Bush they are "helping". NO you are NOT.

And arguing with people who simply ask that if Republicans are going to participate in public discussion, that they be well versed in the issues is helping?

To quote someone you may know, "NO YOU ARE NOT!"

"Biden lost ALL credibility (if he ever had much)...when he said on one of these talk shows, back when the subject of President Bush's SCOTUS nominees was first being discussed...

and he touted his postition as a professor of Constitutional Law....but, in the same interview said that the Supreme Court's job was to MAKE LAW."

LOL he'd give us a rebuttal to his own words if we'll only give him a chance!!!

I mentioned Levin as losing his security clearance earlier. I was wrong, confusing him with Leahy. I'm sorry to have mislead anyone.

Here's the important part from the Newsweek Article:

Which was precisely what the Democratic leadership wanted Murtha to do. A close ally, Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi, was anxious to open a second axis of attack on Iraq—and was aware of his growing antagonism toward the war. The two met and agreed that he would make his case in private to the party conference. After that, on his own, he would introduce a resolution calling for withdrawal of troops from Iraq "at the earliest practicable date." Pelosi and the other liberals would keep their distance, while their own Marine charged up the Hill. Framed by long rows of American flags at a press conference, he denounced the Iraq war as a "flawed policy wrapped in an illusion."

believe the President is going to give a 'major' speech (on the war IIRC) on Tuesday

Which will be talk of Free Republic for about 12 hours then we will return to the same hold "Why doesn't Bush do this, why doesn't Bush do that". It's just simply amazing. What is it going to take for Freepers to wake up to the fact the Dinosaur Media is the enemy? Bush can give 10,000 speeches lambasting his foes, it will do no good since the people who SHOULD be his echo chamber will be back to the same old defensive posture 12 hours later. Your media savvy SC. Go do the search. You can NOT find any support for Bush at all. Even the people who SHOULD be on his side spend more then half their time whining. The ONLY pundits who seems able to keep their eye on the ball are Rush Limbaugh and Hugh Hewitt. There is a REASON Ronald Reagan gave us his 11th Commandment. There is NO gain to us when we spend most our time shooting at ourselves. The Dinosaur media knows and exploits our weakness for intramural bloodshed. That is why people like McCain and Hagel and Wills get all the air time. WE should know better but they lies are being screamed so loud so often that even FREEPERS are starting to be the Dinasour media's Echo chamber.

Oh, yeah...I remember the Zell/Chrissy "fight"....it was a hoot...and I am sure that Chrissy was glad that Zell wasn't sitting next to him....

I see that Saturday Night Live remembers it as well...they have a "Zell" character almost every week..."sparring" with Darrell Hammond playing Chrissy...

The guy's veins bulge on his forehead so much when he is acting like Zell...that I worry about him having a stroke right there on TV!!!

Amazing post anita, as I read this it looks like one of the bloggers all but confirmed that CNN(now CNX) purposely put the "X" over Cheney's speech as an exercise in "their free speech". Wow what BS. They(CNX) admit their own bias. Sure makes our work easy.Great job anita.
