Some members of the House and Senate, looking ahead to off-year elections next November, are publicly worrying about a quagmire there this being a quagmire for them personally.

This resolution will suspiciously be "lost" and the MSM will conveniently forget all about it...

So, Murtha was a "Marine" for 37 years, during most of which he was also a Congresscritter?

Yeah, that sounds like a lot of military experience there, bucko!

"There is no sterner stuff than the backbone and courage that defines Jack Murtha's character and conscience," Kerry said.

Well, if Kerry says so, I'm convinced.

You know, it's possible to have backbone and courage and be 100% DEAD WRONG. I always try to understand why people do what they do. What's Rep. Murtha's motivation here? Perhaps he identifies with and cannot stand to see more G.I.s killed. Who knows? But the facts are, no matter what he believes, he is playing right into the hands of the terrorists. Who does he think will be best served by a withdrawal? Sure, some G.I.s might be saved in the short term, but the long term prospects are truly horrendous. Can you imagine what will happen if the new Iraqi government falls to Iranian-backed Shias?

All well and good, but if this backfires on the Republicans...

If they lost this vote, it would be a monumental global disaster.

I;ll believe it when I see the Republicans do a floor vote on it.
I would be Democrats and perhaps a couple of Republicans would not say no, they would just not vote IMO.

Man oh man am I looking forward to the pontificating (er brain cramps)emanating from the mouths of those who check their brains at the door.

This will prove to be a wonderful Christmas present to conservatives. When someone is making a complete idiot out of themselves (before cameras no less, just step out of the way and let 'em have at it!

Get em on record, get em on record! I love it. Democrats will be sorry they ever put national security and defense on the front burner. That's an issue they lose every time.

I think we ought to buy a whole bunch of white flags and send them to the democrats in the house and senate.

Congress might actually vote on using military force in Iraq again?

I wouldn't bet on that happening. The last time that they asked for a vote on going to war in Iraq they got it, and most voted for it. They got sucked into that vote big time, and it was their second time doing it.

Only serious idiots would ask to be put through those sort of political contortions again. I hope that they do it, but they won't.

[[Also a Vietnam veteran, Kerry was dogged during the campaign by a group called the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth that challenged his war record]]

A group called the "Swift Boat Veterans For Truth"? HAHAHAHAHA. This was not just a group. It was Hanoi John Kerry's commanders and the people that served with him. Nobody knows this rat bastard better than them.

Never forget the this is NOT really about the WOT!

It is about the money being spent in Iraq in support of the WOT!

Approximately $2 billion a week! The dems see this as lost votes that they could buy. This is what the whole thing is about!

Hot Damn, this ought to be good! I hope someone on the Republican side of the debate frames it as a "put up or STFU" vote. The RATS are going to be forced to show their own weakness on national defense, man for man.
