Official Election Day 2005 Watch [Live Thread]
Shameless Vanity Post | November 8, 2005 | BillyBoy

Posted on 11/07/2005 11:46:41 PM PST by BillyBoy

My Fellow FReepers,

As it now past midnight (well at least for those of us in Central Standard Time) and I did a general search and couldn't find a single thread dedicated to election 2005, I have taken the liberty of creating one.

THIS is the place to post all your updates and discussions on '05 races around the country. From the Boston Mayoral Race to the fight for Virginia Attorney General, keep the adrenaline flowing here.

Will the GOP make a midterm gubernatorial comeback after suffering through the 2001 "mistakes" of McGreeley and Mark Warner? Will Ahnuld, the CA Dummycrats, or independent minded conservatives emerge triumph in California's latest (but not greatest!) "special election"? Will the liberal incumbent crush his equally liberal challenger in New York? And do conservatives even care?

Let's get the discussion rolling folks. You heard it here first!

also, Potts only got 1.75% in this district which is where I thought he'd be' the results don't mean much for the two viable candidates but I'll bet this is typical for the indy...

Thx and Thx for the SOS link.

Fox just had a talking head saying turnout may be closer to 60% than 40%

Kilgore doing better than his republican counterpart running for Lt. Governor but not as well as the republican running for the AG spot. GO KILGORE!

I went to the polling place listed on my sample ballot this afternoon and there was not a soul to be found.

WTF I said to myself and went home.

I finally got around to looking at today's (election day) mail and guess what was in there.

It was a notice for me to disregard the polling place listed on my sample ballot and go to a new polling site.

Too late......I've already tossed back a couple of vodka and cranberry concoctions and I'm just about ready for a 3rd.

I'ts absentee for me from now on.

Most of the anecdotal evidence at vaconservative.com shows pretty light turnout overall. I'd take the word of 50+ bloggers over that of a single Fox talking head.

>> Prop 76 corrects that.

FWIW: I'm in the YES camp, on that one, but I'm still waiting to read a decent rationale for a "NO" vote on it -- granting that one might exist.

I voted at around 6:30pm in Fairfax.... They gave me ballot card #603.

I voted about the same time out in the sticks in Spotsylvania County, and my number was over 1,000. Let's hope that's a trend.

Now I'm getting a bad feeling that Kaine will win. Kilgore feel big time with those new votes while the republicans for Lt. Governor and AG held steady.

Polls & Pundits has a great website devoted only to the "key" counties in the race: http://pollsandpundits.com/page2.html

I'm cautiously optimistic. I think Kilgore wins in a squeakier.

" .....that they had internal polling indicating they might be losing this one."

Did you see the sudden SurveyUSA update yesterday .... VA too "volatile" .. after having shown Kaine up 9, they suddenly were seeing large swings to Kilgore and just couldn't figure it out? I'm thinking Kaine & Co. were reacting to that.

All fingers and toes still crossed ;)

Kilgore is only 2 points behind the GOP AG and LG candidates.

THe LG and AG guys were expected to win comfortably so this is very good news for Kilgore.
