Paris/France burns, Live thread (night #10)

Posted on 11/05/2005 9:39:59 AM PST by Dane

It is now getting dark in Paris and in all of France(appx. 6:40 PM Paris Time), and if there are any French FR lurkers(lurquers), this may be the thread to post your reports about any further violence.

It seems the French govt. is impotent in it's response to what seems are jihadist thugs and it seems the American media has put a news blackout filter to what is really happening, so as not to embarass their heroes, Chirac et al.

So any news reports or personal reports from what happens tonight are welcome, and don't worry about broken English, reports in French are welcome also, I have no doubt someone can translate.

I really dread putting up a live thread about such a matter, but it seems that the American MSM is following French govt. orders to play down to what it seems is an insurrection.

Here's some info gleaned from the news link at post #782:

The persistent hit-and-run arson attacks show signs of strategy and coordination, said Yves Bot, the chief prosecutor in Paris.

"We see a form of action that is organized," Bot told Europe 1 radio Saturday. "It responds to a strategy. . . . It's done by mobile units of youths -- or older guys because they are masked -- who arrive on scooters, throw a burning bottle at a vehicle and leave."

"There are organized gangs, that's irrefutable," he added, "because it's done in a way that gives every sign of coordination. In fact, one can read blogs on certain Web sites inciting other cities to join the movement of the Parisian region."

Troubles by Muslims in socialist France who appease Muslims terrorists and terrorist regimes is not a good thing to cover by our liberal media because these troubles make Chirac their hero looks very bad and very inept and on the other hand covering such riots will further prove that the United States is a much better country and President Bush is a much better leader. That is why the defeated liberal media will not cover this until we see horrible terrorist acts committed in France.

It's the French political "leaders" who want the money. As our Swedish FReeper Kristopher has noted, many of the European political "leaders" have been bought off by foreign interests. We saw this in the huge UN Oil for Food scandal.

I am posting this again to guard against any undeserved sympathy for France, they need to learn the hard way or the lesson will not stick.

Back in the 1990s, the French sneered at America for the Los Angeles riots. As the Chicago Sun-Times reported in 1992: "the consensus of French pundits is that something on the scale of the Los Angeles riots could not happen here, mainly because France is a more humane, less racist place with a much stronger commitment to social welfare programs." President Mitterrand, the Washington Post reported in 1992, blamed the riots on the "conservative society" that Presidents Reagan and Bush had created and said France is different because it "is the country where the level of social protection is the highest in the world."

I don't think that the Hispanic immigrants will try and destroy America. The majority of them love our country and the job opportunities and also they are Catholic. They will have gangs while they assimilate like Irish and Italian Catholics did but will eventually blend in well into our Christian country.

One more point on an otherwise petrifying topic...it ain't her bone structure. If she were a happy, friendly person...smiling and saying hello to strangers, she would be fine. Whatever it is...it is something deep down inside. Look at her eyes. Look into her soul.

It helps if one is a man. She is scarier than Halloween.

You mean hundreds of millions of dollars anually to keep their putrid socialist economies from collapsing? That I can well believe.

Of course I could be wrong, but that you didn't see into the eyes of C Herridge and feel afraid (and I might be doing her a great injustice). Women have intuition and men have gut reactions (probably the same thing, just different labels).

But she scares the heck out of me.

I think you are stating the obvious. Which is necessary. The obvious is avoided by liberals. When it all comes crashing down, and their benefits and lifestyle free fall into 14th century feudalism, what will they say? What will the liberals say then?

I fear they won't be allowed to "say" anything. Free speech is for the free.

I am in Connecticut right now.

The beur are the primary rioters, although there are black Africans in among them.

People of North African descent are of Muslim origin. This does not perforce make them Muslims.
Is every white French person a Catholic?
Just about everybody is baptized. Does that make them Catholics?
I would say that to be a Catholic, you have to actually believe the religion and practice it. Having water poured on your head as an infant and being white and French is not enough.
Likewise, being born to parents who were of Muslim origin is not enough to make one a Muslim. You have to believe there is no God but Allah, that Mohammed is his prophet, and practice the religion to be a Muslim.

What I see is the calling of all Arabs Muslims.
Every white person in America or France is a Christian or a Jew, right? Southern blacks are Christians, and Northern blacks, unless they are Black Muslims, are Christians, right?
Therefore, the Detroit riots and the LA riots and the riots in Watts...and every single riot in Europe, is always a Christian riot, because it is all Christians rioting, right?

If you say "That's ridiculous!", I agree. It is ridiculous.
And it's just as ridiculous if the French riots.
The rioters are mostly Beurs, and young. Nobody will dispute that. It's an ethnic riot, among French people who are the children of immigrants.
So, are the French cops, and is the French government, Christians trying to hold the line? Is the Foreign Legion, when it goes on deployment, a Christian force?
No.
Because the language and intentions of the government, the police, or the Legionnaires is not the language of Christian conversion and resistance, but the language of the secular French state.

Likewise, listen to the rioters interviewed, such as in this article. Where was there any Islam in that?

Folks are saying: brown-skinned Arab, therefore Islam.
But that is obtuse. White-skinned European, therefore Christian. The environmentalist protestors who burn things at all of the G-8 summits are almost all white European males. Ergo, this is militant Christianity?

To the same extent that what is going on in the banlieu is Muslim.

Now, once the rhetoric becomes that of Islam, and not that of socio-economic anger at the French state, and anger at the abuses done by the French police, it will have become an Islamic movement. But that is not the case now. Now, it is an ethnic integration issue.

Awfully comforting, but I am prone to vivid dreams. I will try to imagine you guys there saving me from C. Herridge and her bloody cleaver. Yeeeeeeeeooowwww.

Dang that imagination thang. It has a good side and a dark one.

If I don't see you again...farewell and best wishes!
