Paris/France burns, Live thread (night #10)

Posted on 11/05/2005 9:39:59 AM PST by Dane

It is now getting dark in Paris and in all of France(appx. 6:40 PM Paris Time), and if there are any French FR lurkers(lurquers), this may be the thread to post your reports about any further violence.

It seems the French govt. is impotent in it's response to what seems are jihadist thugs and it seems the American media has put a news blackout filter to what is really happening, so as not to embarass their heroes, Chirac et al.

So any news reports or personal reports from what happens tonight are welcome, and don't worry about broken English, reports in French are welcome also, I have no doubt someone can translate.

I really dread putting up a live thread about such a matter, but it seems that the American MSM is following French govt. orders to play down to what it seems is an insurrection.

I have to laugh about your troll reference, Bahbah; I do not have "troll-dar." I'm usually the last to know...

LOL. Clearly I have been on too many troll threads. BTW, I completely agree with what you said in your post.

If France doesn't figure out a way to break down the walls of exclusion

This is contrary to what Vicomte13 used to say. In previous posts there were no walls of exclusion. Muslims had integrated into French society. Everything was rosy, warm, and wonderful.

How did a problem develop when there was no problem to begin with?

It is clear to me, that our leaders are flooding this nation with foreign nationals in order to dilute objection to some of the anti-U.S. policies they want to implement in upcoming years. What's very troubling to me, is to watch long-term citizens defend this, and the anti-U.S. policies they know are going to destroy our self-determination.

Self-determination is the ultimate last-straw when it comes to nationhood. Some idiots on this forum are supportive of handing that card over. Amazing...

[...throw the parties and professional politicians out of politics across the US and get average people in there... revolution does a body-politik good now and then...]

Our representatives used to work for free.

Jefferson thought a good revolution every now and then was necessary for the health of the country. We're long overdue. How else do we dispose of the decay?

Must repost this from Barnacle.

Here's something I'd like to share with you.

"In the first place we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the man's becoming in very fact an American, and nothing but an American...There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag, and this excludes the red flag, which symbolizes all wars against liberty and civilization, just as much as it excludes any foreign flag of a nation to which we are hostile...We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language...and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people."

Theodore Roosevelt 1907

Yes if they don't get serious about this, france is finished. I read on Yahoo news this morning that they found a primative bomb factory in Paris this morning, that was making moliov cocktails I presume. I get the impression it was turning out HUNDREDS of the things, at the very least. THAT is bad news.

Sometimes I wish there was a "confirmed troll" list just so I could keep up.

After all the MD4BUSH controversy, it pays to be a little more cautious! But the MD4BUSH info has been put together on one thread and I'm still having trouble keeping up with who's who!

The dems and the frenchie french are unfortunately cut from the same mold now a days. And it's a yellow mold with a stripe down the back, and a white flag in the right hand, instead of a big stick. If kerry was President I wouldn't be a bit surprised if we already had 50,000 or more troops pulled out, and then we could see the REAL collapse of Iraq, as terrorists and hussein radicals take over the country, then kerry could do to a country what was done to Vietnam when we left there and Saigon fell. THANK GOD that is not the case. Iraq is a war that is being won, and the Iraqi people WILL have a free democratic society, which will prove like in Afghanistan, people are people, regardless of race or religion and democracies and real constitutions WILL succeed in ANY NATION that has them, because ALL people, if given the choice, WILL CHOOSE FREEDOM over tyranny and dictatorial rule or despotism. It is being done in Afghanistan, and now in Iraq. It worked in South Korea, and Germany and Japan. If grown ups had been in charge of Vietnam, letting the military fight the war with both hands, not one hand, if DC approved of what they were doing, it would have worked there too. That's 5 of 6 in my book. Not to mention the fact that in the history of the world, not a single real democracy has EVER been overthrown, EVER. And no democracy has EVER declared war on another democracy. Those are two historical facts that make it even more imperative to spread freedom and democracy. And if we have to use the military to nudge nations like iran and syria and north korea then sobeit. Someday, though there will be a lot of blood spilled to make it so, China will be a democracy as well. It's only a matter of time. NO one wants to be ruled over by an iron fist. EVERYONE wants to be free with a say in thair life, and a say in what their nation is doing. That's an undeniable fact. And it only happens with democracy.

And THAT is the thing that is REALLY at the crux of this. This is not a war about WMD. It's not a war about bin-laden and hussein. It's a war to protect western civilization. The thing that liberals exist ONLY BECAUSE OF, it what is at stake now, so it's beyond obtuse that democrats oppose this war, when western civilization is the ONLY thing that allows any measure of modern liberalism to exist in the U.S., and without our free democratic western government, liberalism wouldn't be allowed. No fascist regime or dictatorship would allow the freedoms that liberals abuse in the U.S.. If we lose in Iraq and Afghanistan, it's not there that we lose. It's in the larger war to stop islam from world conquest by force. Radical islam's ultimate goal is to make all in the world muslim. To do that, constitutional representative republics like ours MUST be destroyed. The sooner liberals wake up from their warm and fuzzy sleepy bye, and realize that huggy pie kissy face with the terrorists doesn't work, the better.

Fortunately a majority of people in America recognize this, and that is why conservatives will remain the majority, because for all the talk of budgets, medicare, social security, tax cuts, on and on and on. NONE of that matters if the terrorists win this war. Defeating terrorism and spreading democracy to stamp it out is the ONLY way to win this war, and most Americans understand that the democrat party just does not have the stomach or spine or understanding to do that. The conservative movement does, and it's the conservative movement that has made ALL the tough calls in the military history of the U.S.. liberals don't get it. And they cannot be trusted to fight this war, and that is why Americans will keep them as a minority. Terrorism is the most important issue in the country and will be for many years, and democrats are not equipped to fight it successfully.

Yes the Brits BIG TIME need to buckle down on the muslims there. The more who don't adjust themselves to English culture they deport the better. The problem is, many of them have now been born in the countries they're torching. In that case, they should be deported and sent where their parents came from. If you can't pay by the rules, you will be sent home. And if it's your home and you aren't playing by the rules, you'll be sent to someone elses home, but you will be gone. The sooner the Brits do that the better for them, and democracy.

The NYT, which had 40 front page stories on a U.S. Military prison in Iraq, has not found space on its front page today for the 11th night of insurrection in Paris.

You're welcome. Thanks for your response. And actually, I did hit france for not allowing the fly over too. 8) I said at the end of one post that I can almost see Reagan, up in Heaven, looking down saying something like "ahha, that's what you get for not allowing me to fly bombers over your precious soil". I haven't trusted or liked the french ever since I was a teenager and france chose Libya over America, denying us access to their airspace, when if it wasn't for America, there would be NO french airspace, only distant western german airspace.

The galling thing about the French is that they expect the rest of the world, esp. the US, to pick up their marbles for them because the French are 'superior'. Unfortunately, their nukes and nuclear power plants mean this familiar scenario is likely to play out. Again.

It's fantastic now you can see that Europe is no more christian.European christianism is an old story...

I'm not sure if you are directing this comment to me, but I didn't make that statement here. I was alerting ("pinging") you to this thread, which I thought may be of interest to you.

It is nice to know we have several FRiends in France, by the way. :o)

Let's face it, the real future of news won't be with MSM but the internet where real people can get the truth and not lies that cable news whats to feed us. Watching the news now, you would not know about the French riots because CNN and MSNBC and the rest except FOx wants us to be angry at Bush and not look at the real problems.

Place de la République in Paris

I've been to Paris a couple of times, and did a driving tour of France for 10 days. This is tragic.

> I am also mostly german and I despise most everything the nation of germany has stood for and done the past 100 years.

Me too. I'm more German than anything else and I say if there's something sick, twisted, immoral and depraved, chances are there's a German at the root of it.

Their destruction to the culture far outstrips anything they contributed to it.

Must be something is the water or something. They've been seriously bent for centuries.

I'd trade my German blood for dog blood in a New York minute.
