Watching WH briefing John Roberts Just apoligized to McClellan by sayin "I'm sorry for my unfortunate choice of words this morning". McClellan just nodded in response.
Ewww....
But, uh, thanks for clearing that up!
Just another sign of MSM/Dim desperation/frustration.
They've had a rough few days.
Another blow-dried airhead.
He knew exactly what image the phrase conjures. It was a nasty question straight from his nasty heart.
To be "fair" to Roberts, he made his remarks at the morning press "Gaggle", not at the televised press conference. The gaggle is where the reporters ask questions and McClellan answers the easy ones and takes the rest to get answers -- which he will then give when the reporters publicly ask the same questions at the press conference.
If not for this procedure, half the questions at the conference would end up with "I'll have to check", since the press secretary is the spokesperson for the white house and can't answer unless he knows what the white house's answer would be.
If Roberts had asked this question at the press conference, I think it would be right to make a bigger deal out of it. But given the circumstances I think the apology was sufficient.
The whole press conference shows the end of the horse the press represents. What a bunch of idiot losers.
I'm guessing he didn't know the original meaning. I agree. He apologized. Let's carry on. We need to pick our battles. This is nothing in the large scheme of things.
(of course, I'm all for having fun with it tho.)
These bastards are so arrogant, they hang around with their own, read far left, and get accustomed to saying any defamatory thing they want. It's kind of like political correctness in reverse. They say something expecting no response and are dumbfounded when most others find it revolting.
"Im not having sloppy seconds, I want to shag her first.
So what does putting in carpeting for some lady have to do with anything?
If that was the comment, that is one of the most disgusting things I've ever heard a newsie say. He should be suspended from his job, OR fired.
You guys are kinder than I am. I might accept his apology, but there's not a boy who went to college during the period Roberts did who is unaware of the meaning of 'sloppy seconds.'
Disgusting use of slanguage per a SCOTUS nominee..........
John Roberts is a man, is he not? I've no doubt that he knew exactly what it meant, and his apology is rather limp. His employer should remove him from the White House. Big boo boo.
I maintain that the White House press secretary is not quick-thinking enough to stay in his position. He should be moved to a background job.
This man should be relegated to typesetting if this is his choice of language to use in the White House.
< He knew exactly what image the phrase conjures. >
I didn't know. I guess I'm out of the loop.
I believe that CBS has a policy of apologizing if someone watching their station is offended. In this case, I believe that the only person who ever watches SeeBS happened to see the comment and was offended...
