I'm not being moody. I'm trying to help people use their brains. Mood, emotion, that's all fleeting. We need to get smart. We have a primary coming up in a few, short years, and we need to know that there will be another moderate propped up before our eyes and covered with tinsel.

At least Bush can be horse whipped into doing the right thing. People should pat themselves on the the back-- not Bush.

Laura never should have had a pick.

I am with you on that one. Alito is a great choice, a down the middle staunch conservative.

Battle stations.

I wouldn't worry about McCain. He's running for President and needs to make cake with the base. He'll vote for Alito.

Specter, Mr. Pro-Abortion, may not let him out of committee.

On what pretense?

"I wasn't really crazy about Miers, but denying her a vote was a disaster in the making for sometime in the future."

Like putting her on the bench without any qualifications would be any less a disaster???

that sucks, I would move to a more sane area of America.

Mark Levin posted on another thread, saying that he thought Alito would be an "outstanding" pic (Lutting as well, BTW). He's known Alito for several years. I trust his judgement.

That's not the question

The question is .. can you get him through the Senate?

Well, the committee didn't deny her a vote, nor did the Senate. She withdrew. I think Specter would have a hard time with pushing that line.

Good morning....just wondering..did you happen to see the piece in yesterday's NY Times editorial section about Luttig's opinion upholding, to some extent, the idea of a "super" stare decisis?...Could be what doomed his chances..worth reading.

I had done some preliminary searching on the internet and found out about that. It made me wonder why so many conservatives (including myself) had been praising Luttig as if he was the top choice. (I had even voted for him in the FreeRepublic poll.) Of course, there are many, many other issues than abortion. It's possible Luttig was solid on every single other issue. And it's also possible Alito may have some weaknesses we don't know about yet. However, I like what I see so far!

You better thank your lucky stars that we 'unappeasables' are out there. Now we have a decent candidate.

Right you are! I'm glad, too, actually. Just trying to keep things in perspective. FRegards....

I suspect you're right. Then of course the MSM won't have him on to discuss that issue.
