I just read this SHOCKING headline on MSM.com...

Imagine that!

Let SPECTER know what you think of this judge... e-mailing and calling SPECTER is a must. Done.

This is "the peoples' pick"--the "true conservatives' pick",-- not Bush's pick. Let's reconcile our side and say it's all of the above!

You are correct that the document request was inappropriate. But it did NOT deny her a vote.

Chafee has to take this one step at a time. His safer course of action is to vote AYE on Alito and get past the primary.

You are pretty much right. Most of the RINOs are there because a real conservative couldn't get elected in those states. With a couple of exceptions, like McCain and Dewine. It's a lesser of two evils kind of thing. They're only Republicans half the time and frequently vote with democrats, and don't even agree with half of the Republican party plank, and most times, even less of the beliefs of the conservative movement. They help create a numerical majority in the Senate, but really, it's a paper tiger majority, because the RINOs have neither the inclination, desire, or will to do what the conservative majority of the country wants. If they were to retire or were defeated, it would be to a democrat because most of their states do not have enough registered conservative voters to put a real conservative in office.
This is all likely to change when some or all of the 11 democrat Senators that are in VERY red states that Bush won BIG, are replaced by conservative Republicans over the years. There are only three Republican Senators in very blue states, so that is a clear large advantage the Republcans have in the coming years. It's just getting from here to there that is the hassle. 8) But it's a positive outlook.

What makes you think that I have "clearly" seen the difference? Your words. Guess I misconstrued them. Oh well.
I haven't, I have chosen to ignore it for the sake of getting Alito on the court.
Oh. Okay.
I do not believe that Miers opponents were simply "urging" him to withdraw the nomination, but instead they were attempting to force the withdrawal through political pressure that threatened the presidency and control of congress if they did not get their way.
A number of individuals voiced opposition. That's part of the political process. But that exercise, which resulted in the President exercizing HIS prerogative to withdraw a nomination, is clearly different from the Senate refusing to dispose of a nomination that the President chooses to press ahead with.
You are free to see the two events as "the same" to the extent it paints conservatives as hypocrits. But in doing so, you open yourself up to being tared with the same charge, certainly in the eyes of the DEMs and liberals who oppose the Alito nomination. You are adopting their argument against this nominee.
To do so undermines the President and the GOP on this nomination. Holding that position is destructive to the cause of seating a strict constructionist via a transparent political process.

I served one 12 month tour in Vietnam plus an additional eight months off the coast and agree with your father. No comparison.

Couldn't you end up with the opposite situation in the strong Red States and have DINO's versus conservative Republicans?

Headed to RUsh's thread. 8) Should be great.

I would have preferred a Southerner who hasn't been in the Ivy Halls I agree. I hope Alito works out but I prefer we get away from Northeast domination of the institutions.
To: ekwd
For one, convincing a nominee to withdraw from consideration isn't at odds with the Constitution, as is the Democrat filibuster game.

Why? Because the election for Governor of NJ is next week and Corzine will not say an unkind word about this candidate until after the election which he's probably going to win. He won't alienate voters, especially Italian American voters.

I served three tours in Southeast Asia, two on the Thailand-Laos border and one in an airborne unit based in Okinawa (never in any real danger as far as I know). It seems to me to me that some people have forgotten that we are considering turning our government over to the same people who are responsible for the existence of the Soviet Republic of Vietnam in order to punish RINO's and others for not being conservative or conservative enough.

Here is an article about Janice Rogers Brown in the Christian Woman magazine:
http://www.gospeladvocate.com/cw/cw0501a.htm
Last year, Janice accepted a position on the Pepperdine University Board of Regents. She addressed the 1999 Pepperdine Bible Lectureship on the topic, "Beyond the Abyss: Restoring Religion on the Public Square," urging Christians to use their First Amendment rights to make their voices heard in public matters.
Chris Goldman, minister of the Cordova congregation, has compared Janice to Deborah, the woman judge of the Bible. "Serving as a judge in a day when evil seems to be prevalent and growing, Janice restores faith to the Supreme Court in the same fashion Deborah restored faith in her day."
