W was a conservatives best ally at the moment, now they may have just lost it....I'd hate to see him and harriet go to the dark side totally.....I wouldn't blame them if they did.
Bush was setting up the perfect Wag the dog against the Liberals, and his own supporters were to dumb to see it. One thing the liberals like more than trashing a good woman, that is money, they we not spending money in AD's, thus, a vote COULD have been pushed through....with the republican's who we're talking about her, swithing at vote time to vote yes.
but now, I bet we losssssssseeeee "W" for a long time.

To win a Senate showdown, all the conservatives have to be on board. All the conservatives and almost all the Rinos. This is going to get really ugly now.

I agree. He really looks weak now. He looked ridiculously weak the moment he nominated her. It's embarrassing to see a grown man shrink from a fight with the likes of Chuck Schumer.
The opposition of conservatives to her nomination saves his ass and gives him another chance to show some spine.

It was from folks that are too stupid to follow a philosophy and not an individual. Swearing unquestioned allegiance to any one man is wrong, and history makes this point over and over again.

OK let's have a real fight.

The message: Miers was nominated because the most qualified nominees declined to enter the fight back in September.
Was her nomination used to illustrate the SCOTUS bench is too important for bench warmers {2nd teamers} such as Miers?

No, the likely reason is that her 1993 speech came out ---you know W has no time for people who deceive him!
To: monkapotamus
Thank you ANN COULTER, Bork, and others for speaking out against this nomination. You were right. And everyone else that didn't tow the Miers is great line needs to be congratulated as well.

And Lott said he had voted for "Ruth Gator Binsburg"
slip of the tongue or intentional?
To: Dolphy
Who does? Ingraham, Lott, Coulter, Kristol, etc.? Yep. And then some.

A caller to Laura Ingraham's radio show just brought up a great point. Will President Bush now nominate a verifiable judicial conservative or will he be angry at "us" (the base that didn't support Miers) and start meeting with Chuck Schumer and whoever to get their insight on whom to nominate?
Just something to ponder..

**How do you know she wouldn't have been good? **
And that precisely is the problem. It can't be known, and the risk is far too high to take.

I feel so relieved and I am so proud of the President.

I disagree. I think a fight will not only galvanize the base, but it'll put the Dems on record with their STUPID beliefs. We will win this war. No doubt.
Was FoxNews around when Thomas was nominated? ;)

He [Lott] was until he recommended not nominating Brown or Rogers but someone more acceptable I think he struck the right message regarding Miers.
I hope the anti-conservative (or anti-anit-Miers, for those who object to "their" label being coopted) backlash is brief and soon forgotten.

we should have gotten a nomination 90% of the right should have been able to coalesce behind and push. We didn't. This is what resulted. And you're 100% correct. The "best" choice would not have resulted in such flak.
To: nascar242005
I think Bush is loyal but he hasn't shown signs of being extremely vindictive.
