I pray to God he nominates Janice.Me too. If you're gonna fight...fight with the best. I hope she's got the personal strangth to go thru the gauntlet. If she's not nominated it could only be because there are things about her we don't know.

We want all the senate RINO's exposed so we can get rid of them too. Amen.
To: pabianice
Scalia just said that he would not let himself be nominated today because of the personal abuse a nominee gets. Sentiments undoubtedly echoed by others GWB had first approached. How sad. Should he nominate Gonzalez, we'll be at it again.

I think you could feel this coming but what timing.
I think this was her personal decision.
To: Txsleuth
We were FRIED because 14 Senators had so much power....but, it seems like it is now just a relatively small amount of PUNDITS that have made this decision....are we happy about THAT??? I believe the White House saw the handwriting on the wall when Republican senators began to discuss voting against her; pundits didn't make this decision.

Do you really consider Bush a liberal? Yes.
Limited government? Bush has been the greatest expansionist of government ever, in many ways more than FDR and LBJ.
Fiscally? The numbers speak for themselves. Even if you back out the War on Terror, Bush is the most socialistic spender EVER!
Conservative beliefs? Bush nominated Miers!!!!!!!! Guess who he did not nominate? Owen, Jones, Brown, Luttig . . . and oh yes, he nominated Roberts also who was not Owen, Jones, Brown, Luttig.
There are megabytes more of examples. The facts is, Bush is NOT a conservative, but is a liberal.
BTW, on domestic security, of course Bush allows an invasion to go on unanswered on our borders, and in Iraq and Afghanistan, Bush fights a "politically correct" war.

You bet. They showed their power. Now Bush has been completely undermined for the rest of his term. Thanks guys. Don't go off the deep end! - I supported President GWB selection of Ms. Miers (I trust the man) - However it will now appoint someone else and it will be another fine choice. GWB second term is going to be just fine. Way too many on here blow EVERYTHING so far out of proportion it is silly.
To: cantfindagoodscreenname
I assumed she was one of the people who said she didn't want the job. No? I wonder how many of our favorites declined when asked by President Bush and how many good ones are left to choose from. Maybe she will reconsider. Before, when the rats were blocking her the stakes were not as high. There wasn't much media coverage. Since everyone in Washington is spewing this is a woman seat, I say don't just send up a woman but a black one. Let the rats and the MSM try and savage her. Let them try and filibuster. Go nuclear if need be. But get her on the bench.

Or half lost. It would have been completely lost had Miers stuck around and become a left-of-O'Connor Justice. There is no way, repeat, no way she would have been better.

We all know the good part. But the sad part is "we eat our own" .....now it is going to be harped on for weeks. Its already started. Even the leftists blogs are saying that even though they didn't care for Miers she did NOT DESERVE the Abuse and humilation that was wracked on her by conservatives before she even got her day in the Senate.

Thank-you....
I am heading out for that much needed walk to blow off some steam and bring my blood pressure down.
I am so sick of what the so called conservatives did to our President...
..sick, surprised, hurt....by Coulter, even Krauthammer, et al........Kristol doesn't surprise ....
James Dobson was one of a very few who supported our President and didn't try to make mincemeat of him.
NOW....for that walk!
