Thanks, sincerely. We're going to have to pull together if Bush nominates someone like JRB, because we'll need to go full throttle against the Dems in exposing their hypocrisy on constitutional matters.

Or how little he comprehends conservatism... if he even tries.Assuming the withdrawl is true, and GWB nominates someone on Conservative's list (and puts as much effort into that nomination as those of cronies), is this the first conservative victory?

I just hope the next nominee can stand the fire of both the right and left.

Hopefully, with a wise selection, the fire will be coming solely from the left this time.

That speech was so bad on so many levels it wasn't funny.

Great news! Here is your do over Mr. President. Hit a home run!
To: TommyDale
I agree. I said before Miers was nominated that practically any nominee would be filibustered by the Senate Dems no matter how good they were, so there was no reason to compromise. Nominate Janice Rogers Brown and ram it through with the nuclear option.

All those who don't hate anyone but who honestly felt she was not either qualified nor a true conservative are praying that Bush will now nominate a truly qualified conservative constructionist with a substantial track record supporting that assessment.

Yep, that's precisely what some people want. They want a fight. Doesn't matter who or what suffers in the process, let's just have a big party-destroying fight.
To: Cuttnhorse
I do not hate Miers. I just felt this woman was thrust into the spotlight to take on a job she wasn't ready for. And she simply didn't have the experience to be an Associate Justice. It was nothing personal in my disagreement with this nomination but a lot to do with her lack of qualifications and my belief that we don't to hide our beliefs. Conservatism doesn't mean we have to act like we're ashamed of who we are. Let's hope the President and his staff really listen to the base now. With any luck, we'll get an excellent candidature with the stature and experience to serve on our nation's highest court.

One thing for sure -- whoever agrees to be nominated will definitely have masochistic tendencies.

Maybe now, GW will do more consulting of the CONSERVATIVE BASE Senators than the liberal/left-leaning Dem Senators.

You sound like a Liberal.
If one is opposed to another, it must be because they "hate" them.
Pathetic.

Shhhhh. Don't spoil the fun. This is all about flexing muscles, after all.
I hope President Bush nominates Michael Luttig, and that we aren't bitterly disappointed that Miers never had her chance to show us who she is.
