Arlen Spector isn't the end all, be all.Specter has to bring the nominee to the committee.
Bush will not appoint anybody who Specter does not support.

This has been nearly a blood bath since her name was first announced. No it hasn't. This has been a spirited debate in the arena of ideas which is *exactly* what makes the Republican party *stronger*.
The debate over Meirs' nomination is nothing compared to the infighting that has fractured the Dems to the point of collapse. They can't agree on the economy. They can't agree on supporting the war.
Regardless of how the last few weeks have looked on the outside, the Republicans have not lost their "cohesiveness."

You will be among the first to be purged from legitimate Conservative ranks unless, of course, you want to beat us to that!Excuse me?
To: SoFloFreeper
Look at the timing of this folks. What is coming from the SP or is this related?

"And now all the Miers haters are gearing up to do the same to the next person the President nominates."
Not true with respect to conservatives who opposed her nomination. We love this president, and it was painful to have to oppose him on this issue. If he nominates a qualified, conservative individual (i.e., not Gonzoles), you will see an unprecedented outpouring of zeal and support by those who wish to (a) fix the Court, (b) thank the president for doing the right thing, (c) make amends, and (d) stick it to the Left.

As a "Bushbot" I have no problem with Miers withdrawing, the crowing is coming from the Anti-Miers crowd. I am not ashamed of myself, nor should I be.
The President gets to pick, not you, not me. As for history, Bush won the presidency--twice. He deserves his pick. In this case his nominee has withdrawn, no tears from me. I just hope the next nominee can stand the fire of both the right and left.

Oh. So it is about something other than who is on the Supreme Court?
IMO, that's the problem.

Tom I respect your opinion big time but tell me who the rats and rinos will confirm that we would be happy with, anyone.
I just posted in another thread, in response to this comment:
Comment: Nextup...Alberto Gonzalez
My Response: Or whomever Senator Reid recommends......

If they want a prayer of surving the mid terms next year they need to do something to get the base fired up.
To: quantim
Thank you ANN COULTER, Bork, and others for speaking out against this nomination. You were right.
To: quantim
I think Bush will stay away from cronies this time, no Gonzales. If he uses his head he will not stick his thumb in our eyes again.

I so agree! I am so tired of the Republicans back biteing and fighting among themselves. Where is our party unity, it's hacked me off more than once, they seem to only worry about re-election! I do like JRB, hope Bush nominates her now. It will be interesting to see the Dem's and Jesse Jackson come out against her and what they say.

Miers was nominated because she could have been confirmed!!Look up the word!! Someone please tell me which true conservative can be confirmed with the rat/rinos we are infested with in the senate!! This is exactly why we loose a little more ground each day and the left gains.
Until we get real men with real values ready to fight for what is right and the Constitution, then we will continue to loose what made this country great and eventually this country.
A true lefty has no problem being confirmed because rinos are such pansies.
