You are painting a whole group of people, most of whom attempted to argue their case fairly, with the same broad brush.

No I'm not and you know it

To many, they get saved, start living like a religious zealot for a couple of months and then gradually drift back to where they were. The process usually takes about 6 to 8 months.

I have been an Evangelical Christian for almost 35 years, and I have seen very little of born again repeats. Indeed, I don't think I can recall more than 2 during that time.

Being a church member has everything to do with moral character. If one believes in the moral law, then they realize their is a moral governor. Anyone who does not accept a moral law and its lawgiver is simply a moral relativist.

Well, we agree on something.

Because it's a waste of my time and my money.

The GOP is NEVER going to pull the trigger on the nuclear option.

They have, for all intents and purposes, once again snatched defeat from the jaws of victory.

I was for an up or down vote on Janice Roger Brown -- and I was for an up or down vote on Harriet Miers.

Bush and the GOP aren't going to have my support in 2006 and 2008.

Are you serious? You realize you have spent the last 5 years here castigating everyone else who has ever said that.

I sure do.

But, as you all say, when is enough enough? I'm not going to be part of a party that personally trashes people just to get their agenda ahead and then tries to justify it by saying that they did it for the good of the country.

That's why I'm not a Democrat, FGS.

And, pray tell, by what magic do you discern who is "really" born again and who is not?

My Bible says that only God knows a man's heart.

Ultimately- what is your interest in the "realness" of another's born-againedness?

Certainly there were people who were over the top on Miers, but do you really think that the objection of most people on Miers was based on some narrow agenda as opposed to our wanting a justice like Scalia or Thomas on the court for the next 30 years? Or, perhaps you consider that a narrow agenda. I know my support for Bush is/was based solely on the judges and the war on terror, since in my opinion he has been horrible on everything else. The judges were a big deal to me in his election in 2004, as they were for many conservatives.

You were just telling ME yesterday that I was going to "kill" the GOP?

You regularly scream at anybody who says they're "not supporting Bush" or "not supporting the GOP" because of [insert reason here]....yet you now do that yourself.

And am I surprised by this? Not hardly.

No, we needn't keep O'Connor, we can do better. And certainly better than Harriet Miers.

LOL! Thanks for the sermonette on the importance of the SC then.

It was as lovely as it was unnecessary. You're preaching to a believer here, sweetie. In fact......probably to an Elder. :)

What if he says the heck with them...they treat a good woman like this, and I'll just submit another Ruthie baby to the court, out of spite. I'm conservative, but after being pee'd on, I"d think the same thing.

Then I would be sure I was right to never have voted for him.
