On the heels of Federalist Society staffers appearing in the New York Times and Washington Times on Wednesday, a Federalist Society member tells ABC News the following: (this Thursday morning)
'The Federalist Society staffers are ready to lauch a coup. They have started whispering awful things about Harriet Miers.' The staffers are now just reaching the point of wanting to talk on background.' (to the mainstream media about the nominee)
'The whispers started on Monday, but have revved up...They are willing to talk.'
Federalist Society staffers don't get to vote on the nomination of course, but if the whispers get louder from key Administration allies on judical nominations, perhaps some Senators may listen.
That could be ominous.

The mainstream media loves the conservative movement when it serves their purposes!
Probably correct, if this president's brother ever gets in office again.
Never speak evil of another Republican !
why all she has done is shreek about this, and has on guests who she agrees with/think like she does. I for one am sick of all the "inside the beltway" sniping.
"Hence the increasing frustration of the "whining class"."
As opposed to the increasing frustration of the "servile kneepad class", who know the issue isn't going away. And by the way, 30% opposed is pretty hefty, considering you can only muster about the same numbers on the support side.
Looks like the 11th Commandment went out the window after the White House went on the offensive with the Today Show 'possibly sexist' comments.
Nice try. But in this case, those opposed to Miers carry the burden. The nomination train has left the station. And those wanting to stop it can't with less than 30% on their side. Your attempt to turn the stats around would be perfect if the process was frozen in it's tracks. But it's too late. To stop the nomination now, you've got to do better than under 30%.
Tony Snow is also very good in the mornings as well.
These "staffers" are too cowardly to speak publicly, so leak to the Press like a stinking dirty 'Rat. Do we really need to resort to such disreputable tactics over this nomination?
Do the mean launch a coup?
Blaming Laura Bush for the behavior of David Frum, Ann Coulter, and Bill Kristol is stretching it a bit, don't you think?
I think the staffers held on as long as possible until the White House went on the Today Show to call fellow conservatives out about their possible sexism...
80% passed? Hogwash. Rogers-Brown? Owen? Pryor? Any of the others who have already gone through the anal exams to get on the Circuit Courts passing at the chance to be Supremes? Balderdash! Rove, Bush, or someone else in the administration was probably the one who fed Dobson that line of bull.
She still has to get through the confirmation hearings, and from all the talk of skeletons in her closet that might be interesting.
I'm sure she's smarter than Joe Biden, so she's got that going for her.
What exactly is Brooks' qualifications to judge legal writings? I didn't know he was a legal scholar.
McLame & Linsay are now running the show, not Bill Frist...
No republican president will ever trust them again. Their behavior in this matter has been horrendous and if this proves to be true, then they can not be trusted.
They specify no accusations against Ms. Meiers. They are trying to turn some rumors into news.
You don't announce a "coup", before you are standing at the doors, blowing them down!
The 11th commandment sure went out the window the last ten days when Bush, Miers, and anyone who support them have been viciously attacked 24/7 on this board and the airwaves. You have little room to complain about one idea contrived by Matt Lauer in his typically left-wing biased interview.
