Mark Levin and Dick morris have just debated the nomination on Sean hannity's show. After listening to Levin, I am more convinced that Miers is the one I want. Levin talks a good game about not wanting judges who will re write the Constitution. We we have a person that all indications show will be an orginalist. I think Levin is more interested in a fight than actually getting the judical "No" machine we need in the Suprems Court. I think Miers will be a solid money in the bank conservative vote. Since Supreme Court Judges only get one vote, how much more could Miers do? Maybe smack Ginsberg in the chops?
Levin is an expert on these matters. he knows the machinations of the court, he understands and can explain why so many republican appointments drift left once they get there.
I have heard almost NO one give any support to Miers. Almost all conservatives hate her, and of course all liberals do, simply because she's a Bush pick. The woman has no public support.
Now, bear in mind, I'm not saying how I feel about her, just making an observation.
I think the world of Levin, especially for going after Earle. So he gets 10,000 merits for that and ONE demerit for being a little hard on morris(even tho I agree with most his pts, re moral relativism)
I would probably be more apt to go with Levin on Constitutional related topics, over Dick Morris. What exactly did Morris say that lead you to your decision (that she is an originalist?)
I think someone already took care of that:
I liked your part about popping Ginsburg in the chops. How about Souter, Breyer, and Stevens too.
Not Harry Reid. He recommended her.
Don't be fooled, it's just that the "Donner party" is one helluva lot noisier right now.
That's the Kool-aid 'talkin.
Senator Allen was on Tony Snow's radio program this morning. Allen said all his calls received were negatives on Miers. He said he hadn't decided but his callers are opposed to her.
"Not Harry Reid. He recommended her."
OKay, there's one...
Mark is right on about us conservatives and Dickie Toe Sucker is always right on in matters of political strategy. A couple of pro's going at it. Fun.
I can't decide either. I'm hearing those who oppose her, and those who support her...and I just can't figure it out.
Make your cases, people.
"We have a person that all indications show will be an orginalist.
This opinion is based on what, other than GW telling us to trust him we have no way of knowing if she has the backbone to resist the pressure brought to bear from the Left.
Schumer had very nice things to say about her. Said her nomination gave him hope and represented a repudiation of the extreme right wing.
What these people don't realize, or don't care, is that most non-idealogues and that's the vast majority of the electorate is put off by belligerant in-your-face partisanship.
That's why the Democrats have been losing ground of late.
Bush is doing the right thing and the old Oriental saying "Softly, softly catchee monkey" is the right course of action.
That's absurd. How can you say that?!?
1) There's no such indications let alone "all"
2) We only have the 'word' of Dubya who as of late is acting like beat rented mule. He can't apologize fast or often bough to the freaking dems for FEMA doing absolutely NOTHING wrong prior, during or after Katrina.
3) And then for Dubya to say - and with a straight face no less, that she was the most qualified? If he really thinks that he needs mental help.
4) What's worse is that Harry Reid PICKED her.
Ergo, this was nothing but complete capitulation to the left. So he might as well resign NOW because he will get squat passed in Congress. He can go play golf for three years.
