Fox News TV ^ | October 4, 2005 | Vanity

Posted on 10/04/2005 7:16:56 PM PDT by buzzyboop

Ok, never posted vanity thread, but Rush is on Greta now. He is summarizing the arguments he made on his show regarding Harriet Miers.

Also, his Slickness is also on Greta's show tonight. Rush is the bigger coup, though. Wasn't the last TV interview he did with Letterman??

She isn't a name, so getting all the liberal money sent in will be harder IMO.

Rush just wants a fight in the Senate so he'll have plenty to rant about. It would be good for his show and his pocketbook.

While I agree he should have nominated JRB. Won't happen. President Bush doesn't have a "warrior" in the Senate who will go to bat for him to fight the fight we all long for.

I agree and I believe Rush spoke about this the other day at length. So, I'm still not sure what Rush wanted Bush to do. Seems like he's saying have the fight just to out the Dems for what they really are. But then what...lose the nomination because of the lack of GOP guts? I don't have a problem so much with the President as I do with the gutless GOP Senators.

Maybe... but GWB will most likely get two more nominees before the clock runs out.

For some reason, the thought of this doesn't excite me like it would have last week.

Considering how reliably Hate Bush at All Cost your are, I will wait to hear what Rush has to say on his show tomorrow before taking you seriously.

Hate Bush at all costs???? How did you come up with that line of crap?

A missed opportunity for a home run, we settled for a base hit.

Continuing the baseball analogies; Many Republican Senators won't go to bat for this White House without making deals with the enemy. ("Cabal" Of 14 comes to mind). JRB was considered "outside the mainstream" by many on our side, and she was vetted by Miers.

Miers is capable of going to bat for herself and defending herself against any unforseen attacks from the left, are the majority of Republican Senators willing to do the same?

One more baseball quote that is pertinent as well... "There is no 'I' in 'TEAM'".

Where exactly would Breyer go and where would he stop? Nobody knows for sure, but its clearly somewhere far outside American jurisprudence and that is very, very dangerous.

Not only dangerous but extremely frightening. How is this guy a SCJ? What Bryer said about original intent is so absurd, it borders on lunacy. It's amazing to me that a SCJ can publicly admit that he can't do the very thing he is put there to do, and we are not demanding that he be blown from his chair.

The basic gist of it to me was, this was a great oppurtunity missed to educate America as to what the left is really all about! If Bush had named a staunch conservative like ,Brown, or Luttig The left would have gone nuts! We could have gotten into a great debate about all this. By Bush appointing a luke warm conservative she'll probably sail right through! We'll never get to have that fight and expose the left for what they really are! Also many consevatives have been working hard some for over 40 years to get the courts more right. Now they feel let down cause instead of a sure thing like a Janice Rodgers Brown or Luttig, they will once again be on pins and needles hoping and praying she is a real conservative not a Suder or O'conner and this didn't need to happen Bush could have gotten a Luttig or Brown in pretty easily now that we have 55 votes in the Senate. That was the gist of it to me. We just don't know about this woman!

She isn't a name

Not now. Just wait...after day one of these hearings, she'll be an outrageous attempt by the President to foist Nazism onto us without our knowing it! She signed off on the August memo of 9/11 and is a supporter of Gitmo, Abu Ghraib, and Halliburton.

Just a prediction.

My analogy yesterday was a sac fly, but I think you are right, she is probably a base hit.

Neither do I. I trust the President's judgement in this regard. It seems those who have never met Miers personally think Bush is an idiot.

John Roberts encapsulated it in 44 seconds, from a question asked by Dick Turbin, and he was a stealth nominee.

I think we need the Presidency in 2008. The Federal and Supreme court seats would be huge.

With only 36 months left with GWB in power, I don't see any democrat candidates catching fire (or Republicans)... but the justices are not getting any younger. Not all justices want to expire on the bench!

There is a benefit to Republicans if Democrats go ape like that.

Agreed, but Ginsberg has her cancer and Stevens is waiting to be replaced by a Democrat.
They will both drop by 2012 I think.

Oh, I think it will happen. And that could be the beauty of this nomination.

Remains to be seen, of course.
