" A pitbull in size 6 shoes."

So she IS a lesbian.

Relax. It's just a joke.

Disappointing.

The political world has really left a bad taste in my mouth lately.

Once again............what if it was GOD'S WILL for her to be single, like it was for the Apostle Paul? Or is it just your misogyny peeking out, winston? Is it only women who have to be married to be trustworthy? Paul was OK being single because it was God's choice for his life? But Harriet will be a bad judge because she is single?

I agree with you - attacks on Harriet Miers are nonsense. No one is in a position to judge her personal life. Sometimes women do not get married because they are simply not asked. Spreading rumors that she's lesbian is repugnant. My beef is with President Bush, not Harriet Miers, and yes, not everyone is called to marriage.

Please spare me your smarmy, patronizing attitude.
I called you on your ignorance of MBA programs and your breezy dismissal of the hard work and good results from them. You implied heavily that they teach nothing other than "presentations" and "marketing theory" - which is as I have shown, complete and utter bunk.

I in no way said that they are "the source of all wisdom", nor anything even remotely like that. I implied that idiots fail due to the heavy load and the curriculum is several magnitudes greater than what you claimed.

I see, however, that law school does seem to teach the graduates how to put words in other people's mouths and how to brilliantly display your own bad manners.

I seems to me that Staying in a Holiday INN last night does not prepare one to serve on the Supreme Court.

Don't know the actual qualifications for SC Justice, but I don't believe having been a judge is one of them. Rehnquist was not a judge prior to SC either, if my memory serves me right.

(My personal favorite was the former senator from TN, Fred Thompson!)

So we are at a standstill. Neither one of us knows for a fact.

That's the problem. Bush could have nominated someone else and we wouldn't have a guessing game.

You are all wrong on this. Harriet Miers is qualified for tons of positions in the Bush administration--she's just not a wise choice for SCOTUS. I have no animosity towards her. I just know beyond a shadow of a doubt that Luttig, Owen or Alioto should've been tapped for this.

"Yeah. I think we should wait until she's on the court before we pass judgment. I don't think it's prudent to know anything about her."

I do believe I said the same damn thing. It is just because we (I) can learn something about her before she is confirmed. Your tag line is 180* out of sync, cowboy!

I'm curious as to why you're sooooo interested in American politics.

What are you doing to promote conservativism in your own country, alessandro? Are you spending as much time on that as you are on this site?

When did he promise that his nominees will have previous experience on the bench? Did I miss that?

He promised that he would appoint judges who honor the Constitution, as do Scalia and Thomas.

He apparently knows that Meirs will.

If you want to be mad, it's your right. I just prefer to have some facts to back me up before I lose my cool. And I prefer reserving my anger for the leftists who are trying to destroy this country.

Sorry..........but no matter how you try to persuade anyone here, President Bush isn't the enemy, and neither is Harriet Miers. We have a REAL enemy, and we need to stick together and fight them, and that's just what I intend to do.

And the emotional garbage going on here plays right into their hands.

----It'll be interesting to see if CNN starts agitating for O'Connor to rescind her retirement again.----

Based on this pick, I WANT O'Connor to rescind her retirement now. 'Cause I'd rather take my chances with her than with Bush's latest disaster-in-waiting.

I think I've officially given up on Bush. He is his dad.

"She was a Democrat years and years ago, in the early 80s." As far as the late 80s contributions, "If she did it, it was because the [law] firm made her do it." She is loyal to President Bush and he to her:"

Ha. Guess giving money to Bush Sr.'s opponent was because somebody else made her do it. I'm sorry, but a law firm can't make anybody, not even a mail room clerk, donate money to any particularly political candidate. Dude is full of sheet. That kind of *loyalty* we can all do without.

Conservative picks have to be stealthy. There's no other way to get them confirmed. This pick is precisely that.

Really. So, if the battle looks to be tough, surrender?

The democrats clearly own our asses if this is the mentality.

I was thinking more about the connection that a poor choice would always have with the president who made the nomination, as in Souter/Bush41, since he turned out to be such a horrible pick.
