He promised that he would appoint judges who honor the Constitution, as do Scalia and Thomas.

He apparently knows that Meirs will.

If you want to be mad, it's your right. I just prefer to have some facts to back me up before I lose my cool. And I prefer reserving my anger for the leftists who are trying to destroy this country.

Sorry..........but no matter how you try to persuade anyone here, President Bush isn't the enemy, and neither is Harriet Miers. We have a REAL enemy, and we need to stick together and fight them, and that's just what I intend to do.

What is the justification for passing over Edith Jones, Luttig, Alito, Williams, Sykes, Brown, etc?

I put to you that the justification for passing them over doesn't come close to rising to the justification of nominating Miers instead. If the GOP isn't willing to die on a hill like the shape of the future of the Supreme Court, then what hill are they willing to die on?

I agree with you. This 'gnashing of teeth' is way inappropriate. I have an acquaintance who is a conservative judge, here in North Texas, who told me last week that he was pulling for her nomination. He told me she is quiet, deliberative, honest and a strict constitutionalist. that is what I worked for, and I think most of us would agree, Pres. Bush has been 'misunderestimated' before, I just hate to see this vitriol from here.
