The explosion happened at the courtyard near the George Lynn Cross Hall, Botany-Microbiology Building on OU's campus, which is west of the stadium, according to Sgt. Gary Robinson of the University police department. The explosion happened during the second quarter of Oklahoma's game against Kansas State. After the explosion, police set up a perimeter of several blocks and made fans exit the stadium to the east.
NORMAN -- An explosion near the University of Oklahoma's Gaylord Family-Memorial Stadium killed one person Saturday, OU officials said.
You can laugh. But it's coming here. Real soon.
Just how many suicide by bombing oneself have YOU ever read about in America?

I believe AP reported that "explosives" were detonated. It's on this thread somewhere.
Specially if there have been received threats of more stadium bombings - that would explain the blackout.
'Still under investigation'.
Question: What is the typical fan behavior at OU at halftime? Do you have tailgaters that head back out to the parking lot at half time? Would any of them have been near the suicide bomber?
I would imagine overload did cause the lack of signals... at least to start with. Police have emergency access to phone personal that could then shut down the needed towers quickly (2-5 minutes tops) by simply pulling the tower(s) from the network. After the crisis or whatever passes the tower(s) are added back into the network and will start working immediately. Probably was a combination of these two things.
"malls" and football.
I can tell you a bit about malls from this state. I have also seen, with my own eyes, men in tactical gear on duty at football games. At night. High School football games.
Being smart and knowing the profile and behavior is something everyone should be aware of now. Everyone.
%99 of what I read so far is speculation here. Not enough for me to go on at all.I dont have a guess as to what happened never mind arming myself to fight the Islamic Terrorist out there tonight .
True. I wonder if they worried for a time for other venues in and around the area? After I heard it reported on Fox(briefly), I tried to call my son because his best friend and cribmate goes to OU. It did not work, then I called his roomates cell..no go..then i called his girlfriends cell..no go. They were all at another college game here in Texas.
And the Secret Service (and other government intelligence/protection agencies) can jam most all civil communications traffic if they have their equipment in place. This is always the case for Presidential motorcades. So if this was the method of jamming, it means DHS was anticipating something. (Sorry if something like this has already been posted -- I just got in and started reading at post #900).
They're waiting for Nagin to brief Calypso Louie on the bombing, and for Calypso Louie to formulate a theory.
Their purpose is much better served with all the infighting. If we become one united country again, they are finished.

It was like lightening striking the ground within a short distance of where you were standing. We sit on the next to the top row of the stadium in the NE corner -- actually more east then north -- Section 23. Everyone around me jumped.

Exactly.
I would wager that Drudge is out dancing tonight.
A poster on the SoonerFans forum said he/she heard the second detonation; that it was muffled, but had the same percussion.
