The explosion happened at the courtyard near the George Lynn Cross Hall, Botany-Microbiology Building on OU's campus, which is west of the stadium, according to Sgt. Gary Robinson of the University police department. The explosion happened during the second quarter of Oklahoma's game against Kansas State. After the explosion, police set up a perimeter of several blocks and made fans exit the stadium to the east.
NORMAN -- An explosion near the University of Oklahoma's Gaylord Family-Memorial Stadium killed one person Saturday, OU officials said.

"An Oklahoma University student who killed himself by detonating a bomb strapped to his body outside a packed stadium over the weekend was a "suicide bomber" in possession of "Islamic jihad" materials, according to a new report.
Joel Henry Hinrichs III, 21, an engineering major at the school blew himself up outside OU's football stadium during Saturday night's game against Kansas State."
ARTICLE SNIPPT #2: "WorldNetDaily reported earlier that officials carted away a huge cache of explosives from Hinrichs' apartment. Police were overheard telling residents it would take "several trips and could take up to 24 hours" to remove it all, according to the Daily Oklahoman. A canister trailer used for detonating or transporting potentially explosive material was being used to haul items away."

"IT'S PAKISTAN STUPID!"
by Paul Sperry

ARTICLE SNIPPET:
"Internal Department of Homeland Security documents I've obtained show officials fear Pakistan-based al-Qaida may be sending terrorists our way, including ones trained in terror camps up and running inside Pakistan -- that's right, Pakistan. The terror-training camps we shut down in Afghanistan are now open for business on the other side of the border, despite Islamabad's apparent efforts to crack down on them.
According to the closely held intelligence bulletins, officials worry Pakistanis trained in the camps are trying to sneak into America to carry out terrorist attacks. In fact, U.S. border authorities are reminded each day in shift musters that Pakistanis pose the No. 1 terrorist threat to America right now. And for the past several months, they have been under orders to increase scrutiny of travelers of Pakistani origin.
The latest advisory puts authorities on high alert for Pakistani terrorists trying to enter the U.S. with fake British passports.
"A number of Pakistani-based young men in their 20's may be traveling to the U.S. with altered United Kingdom passports in order to engage in terrorist-related activity," says the highly sensitive DHS action memo."
It looks like this story is going the way of that plane crash that happened in Queens a couple months after 9/11 (AA flight 587?). We may never know the truth.

I hope that you who have knowledge of this subject don't let this thread die.
With the inexplicable non-coverage of this story by the Media, this is the only "clearing house" for information that exists.

CFRA is our only local talk radio station.
It is owned by CHUM, and is also affiliated with CNN for 'breaking world news'.
As far as I'm concerned, they are MSM, although they seem not to think so.
This report would have been written on the weekend, while Winogron was off, and he probably hadn't looked at the article until he received your e mail.
Darren McEwen is one of their local reporters, and IIRC, was reporting about the disappearance, and discovery of 18 year old Jennifer Teague, who was found dead a little over 2 weeks ago.
It does seem strange that this report had his by-line, instead of AP, or CNN. Where did he get his information?
I doubt I need to explain this pic.........

Did I garble that? A deadman switch is usually momentary open, normal closed. wire it in with your thumb off the button and complete the circuit as you fasten the lead.
The live switch would be normal open, momentary closed (push the button) or a simple toggle (flip the switch).
Other types mentioned were my musing that the unexploded devices which were reported in an earlier post to have been gathered up for study might have been intended for the busses.
If that was the case, then he might have had several devices rigged with either timers or motion activated switches.
The simplest of the latter would be safe as long as a seperate switch to arm the circuit was open.
If, however that device was at the wrong attitude in the pack, and the arming switch were inadvertently closed, the device would go off.
Just one possibility, especially as most vest type suicide bombers attach nails or other junk to the outside of the vest to get shrapnel, and there were no acounts of shrapnel, only blast effects.
The guy is a Mechanical Engineering student, chances are that the device would be tailored to the intended task.
No shrapnel? May have been intended to be attached to the busses' fuel tanks to increase the effect...
"He and his roommate probably went to Pakistan for "religious training."
yep, could be, if it is indeed true that his roomie was Pakistani. I have not been able to sleep all night, I tried laying down for about thirty minutes and gave up and made coffee...lol Wonder what today's news will bring? I already checked a few early editions online and found nothing. Par for the course. please ping me if you hear anything. I hope the poor kid was not a pasty for the @#$%.
And I'm not really buying into the father's confidence that "his son didn't intend to harm anyone and wasn't motivated by a political agenda"
When his father only sees him for a half hour in a year I highly doubt he knew what was going on in his son's life.
Hinrichs last visited his family this year, when he stopped by for about a half hour while on a road trip, his father said.
thanks much for the report OS!
One FReeper on scene is more credible and reliable than the entire MSM. Thanks, OS, for the follow-up.
The type of kid who is disengaged from his family - particularly from his father - seems to be the type who is really attracted by Islam and jihadist fantasies. When you look at the other young Americans who have been involved in this stuff, Hinrichs' fits the profile perfectly. Plus, it's obvious that his family would have had no idea what he was doing, since his communication seems to have been an occasional e-mail and this 1/2 visit.
This could still be simply some depressed loner, and the supposed jihadist material allegedly found (and reported by a source of unknown credibility) might just be stuff he downloaded while searching for recipes and instructions on making explosives and a suicide vest. I gather such "recipes" are a common feature of jihadist websites.
