From Staff Reports
NORMAN -- An explosion near the University of Oklahoma's Gaylord Family-Memorial Stadium killed one person Saturday, OU officials said.

The explosion happened at the courtyard near the George Lynn Cross Hall, Botany-Microbiology Building on OU's campus, which is west of the stadium, according to Sgt. Gary Robinson of the University police department.

The explosion happened during the second quarter of Oklahoma's game against Kansas State.

After the explosion, police set up a perimeter of several blocks and made fans exit the stadium to the east.

Possible name? Great. That would be a bit of a relief. What is it?

Why do you have to ask me this? Haven't you been reading the thread?

The "Way Back Machine" has 3 pages listed in 2003 and 2 pages in 2004 but linking from their cache shows the same as your link. (nothing)

http://www.outriangle.org/members/list.php?sort=name&pledgeYear=none&status=Active

Based on the listing of active members, it is a small fraternity and it doesn't look like they have any muslim members.

Apparently the suicider has been identified, and his name doesn't suggest a Jihadist.

No AQ connection-- more of a wannabe-- not well coordinated or executed. But, yet still potentially horrendously devastating-- dozens could have been killed.

I think you might have something here.

Not saying they don't sweep, but no one I can find knows anything about it except for yesterday.

It's called 'top of the mind awareness'. Ever buy a car and then notice tha they are all over the place when you never much noticed them before?

Yeah, they're close together, if not in the same complex. I show Parkview Apartments in the 600 block of Stinson, but that is just one block south of 506 Sooner Drive. All just south of the Duck Pond.

Last name has a "h" not a "k" -- couldn't find him with the "k" but the "h" came up as he lived on Boomer Drive which I believe is in Parkview Apartments.

Now know and 'Ka-Boomer Drive'.

About the Oklahoma Chapter of Triangle Fraternity

Triangle Fraternity would like to welcome you to the University of Oklahoma.

Triangle is the national men's social fraternity of engineers, architects and scientists. There is no other organization on this campus like Triangle Fraternity. There are other social fraternities, but the focus of Triangle is upon one specific area of academics.

Engineering is a competitive field, and yet a team sport. It would be difficult for any individual to absorb the many hours of lectures, to transcribe the full text of all instructors' notes. But with many minds working in concert -- taking the same classes, studying together -- engineering students help each other to graduate. For this reason, only the most technical of majors are allowed Brotherhood by the national bylaws. Architects, mathematicians, computer scientists, physicists, chemists and any engineering majors are all welcomed into the Brotherhood. Other majors have been admitted on a case by case basis, based on the degree requirements.

Grouping together students from the "hard" majors provides non-academic benefits too. Many engineering students withdraw from interaction, socializing little and studying only in private. Four to five years of loneliness and boredom are a high price to pay, and no guarantee of success. Grades are not the only things that the job interviewer will be interested in.

Engineers should take advantage of the social aspects of the university. Triangle helps Brothers not to forget this. By planning trips, parties and fun, the Brothers actually have a way to plan study around free time. At the same time, all Brothers understand when academics have to take priority. At OU, we've always got something exciting coming up. Check out our Event Horizon to see what's next.

Triangle began in 1907 at the University of Illinois with a group of Civil Engineering students who wanted to live together. Since then it has grown to more than 35 chapters at universities across the United States. Triangle first appeared on the OU campus in 1976 and was formally installed as the Oklahoma Chapter in 1979.

OU Triangles are also members of other social and technical organizations such as the Engineers' Club and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers . Triangle is the only organization that is a member of both the Interfraternity Council and the College of Engineering St. Pat's Council. Dr. Billy Crynes, Dean of the College of Engineering, and Dr. Brian P. Grady, professor Chemical Engineering and Material Science, Dr. John Snow, Dean of the College of Geosciences, and Dr. Anindya Das, professor Computer Science are all Triangle Brothers.

Triangle Brothers eat together, socialize together, study together, live together and graduate together.

"...how is it possible to keep something like this under wraps?"

Did you notice that Oklahoma officials held a press conference releasing the name of the indvidual but it was not covered by the news channels.

Stunning.

UPDATE: OU engineering junior Joel Hinrichs, 21, was the suicide bomber, according to information released at the press conference
By Ryan McGhee, Rhett Brackeen, Scooby Axson and Althea Peterson

October 02, 2005

UPDATE: 4:25 p.m. — Parkview Apartments, 606 Stenson Drive and Ashley Apartments, 1415 George Avenue were evacuated at about 7 a.m. this morning and may be connected to the suicide bombing Saturday on the South Oval.

The evacuees were taken to local hotels, as issued by OU President David L. Boren.

OU Department of Public Safety said earlier today that there is a possibility of car explosives in the parking lot of the two apartment complexes. A bomb squad member is suited and headed toward Parkview now.

The OU DPS, Norman Police Department and the FBI are currently investigating the scene at the apartments.
