The explosion happened at the courtyard near the George Lynn Cross Hall, Botany-Microbiology Building on OU's campus, which is west of the stadium, according to Sgt. Gary Robinson of the University police department. The explosion happened during the second quarter of Oklahoma's game against Kansas State. After the explosion, police set up a perimeter of several blocks and made fans exit the stadium to the east.
NORMAN -- An explosion near the University of Oklahoma's Gaylord Family-Memorial Stadium killed one person Saturday, OU officials said.
We were talking about that last night. It seems it's unusual including the fact that they didn't issue half-time passes enabling people leaving to return.
Isn't it true that the bomb squad would simply deactivate any additional bombs, rather than blow them up and lose the evidence which they'd provide intact as to who and what made the bomb?
Thus any explosions heard and felt would not be from any "induced detonation."
Hmmmmmmm.... marker.....
bump
I'm afraid it very well may.
September 11 hijacker Ziad Jarrahs ticket (United Airlines Flight 93) was purchased from a computer terminal at Oklahoma University in Norman. Moussaoui was a frequent visitor to the OU campus, worked out at the OU gym and recruited OU student Hussain Al-Attas. September 11 hijacker Mohammed Atta, a member of al-Qaedas cell in Hamburg, Germany, visited the same Norman, Oklahoma, flight school that Moussaoui attended.
Late post, but I couldn't ignore your pun. LOL.
Thanks for understanding.
Yeah...students pipe bombing each other's dorms is common on college campuses. Some of you guys say the most amazing things.
markey mark
"Any new news on the details of this suicide bombing? Will our campuses, malls and stadiums come to look like Jerusalem and Tel Aviv? Will be be afraid to sit in a pizza parlor?"
1. Very little.
2. Nobody knows for sure.
3. You may wind up skeered to sit in a pizza parlor. Only if the investigation of this incident points to Islamic extremists, and those pizza parlors are in very close proximity to the gathering areas of radical Islamists. I do not condone or encourage anyone to violently react to Islamists in America. The reality is that as long as there are mind-altering substances, and the means to carry out such violence toward Islamists, there is greater than a zero percent probability that the backlash will result in dead people. Hence, the media downplay.
This whole thing is strange.
Seems evident that Boren is trying to minimize fear on the campus. That, however, has no bearing on the motives of this apparently bomb-laden deceased individual.
But since we don't even know who the dearly departed was, we certainly don't know that he/she/it intended for the bomb to go off when it did. Could have been a "work accident" on the way to putting the device or devices where they would cause more mayhem.
I don't think this was a pipe bomb and the little that has been said about this on the news today said there was a second bomb that didn't go off.
-----So.........do we know yet who blew themself-up? What the hell happened there?????
Anyone who read Jayna Davis's book on Oklahoma City wouldn't take this incident lightly.
BTTT
Unfortunately what will now happen (if it was a muslim) is the University officials will gear up for "sensitivity training" and "tolerance classes" so that the poor muslim and islamic students aren't harrassed. Anyone care to join me for a noon feast complete with booze followed by wild sex in honor of ramadan?
