From Staff Reports
NORMAN -- An explosion near the University of Oklahoma's Gaylord Family-Memorial Stadium killed one person Saturday, OU officials said.

The explosion happened at the courtyard near the George Lynn Cross Hall, Botany-Microbiology Building on OU's campus, which is west of the stadium, according to Sgt. Gary Robinson of the University police department.

The explosion happened during the second quarter of Oklahoma's game against Kansas State.

After the explosion, police set up a perimeter of several blocks and made fans exit the stadium to the east.

"The MSM can't silence 90,000 people"

They can silence most of them. And make the rest doubt what they saw. They are sheeple.

I dont believe you've defaulted to the most common answer here. I'd rather not speculate UNTILL facts arrive, thats just me though .

I haven't defaulted to any explanation yet. But I am aware that the most common explanation for a person blowing themselves up with a bomb near crowded public areas is not a single suicide attempt. This may well be in this case, but thats not the most common cause these days.

Anybody who doesn't realize that is sort of trying to mislead themselves as to an unpleasant reality I think.

What really sucks is that KFOR, OKC's NBC affiliate & owned by the NY Times, was having local news orgasm/overload and kept repeating the same limited information over and over and...ALL THE WAY INTO THE FIRST 10 MINUTES OF SNL, which they "Joined In Progress" after telling NOTHING NEW!

But "Chopper 4" was in the air and had some great shots of traffic leaving Norman...jeeez! OU FOOTBALL IS WORSHIPPED HERE!

Then, to make it all the more surreal, KFOR's weekend crew cued-up the wrong tape/take for the mid-SNL "Local News-Break" spot that featured the anchorette getting tongue-tied on "suicide-bomber" then stopping her delivery to joke to the crew about it...followed by a throw to the weather guy who spins around to face the camera in a '70s "cool-guy/'Anchorman' stance" and says nothing!!

So bizarre.

The news blackout of this event is glaringly obvious. Why?

Okay, dog, I appreciate your opinion. You're a smart guy, and your rants are great.

But don't you find it odd that some individual blew himself up right outside a stadium, and it is not even being questioned by the media? At the very least, given the climate of the day, the fact that this is not being scrutinized is weird. I mean, generally, the media will go out of their way to make up a story, and sensationalize it, even when there isn't one.

Now they have this, which they could blow (pun intended) way out of proportion with innuendo and supposition (shouldn't Greta Van Tabloid be flying to Norman right about now?), and yet they are silent.

Personally, I don't think AQ had anything to do with this, and it was just an independent copycat crazy. But I still find the chirping crickets a tad bit weird.

The stands were searched with dogs before the game, which I would sincerly hope is SOP and the normal pattern of releasing people and letting them reenter through certain points was apparently also suddenly changed. (That would have been just around the time of the bombing, I believe.) From all that I have seen and read, it was a reaction to the explosion that cause the lockdown - some of the earlier reports were very badly written - but, some of the fans interviewed indicated that they were annoyed when they learned that they couldn't leave at half time as usual.

Nick Berg! That's one that won't go away. The Prometheus Radio Project he and his family were involved with recently turned up in one of the Katrina threads (apparently, they were trying to broadcast their left-wing garbage into the stadium housing evacuees). Amazing how this stuff is all woven together, and keeps popping up again and again.

But unlikely for someone purporting to simply commit suicide. Much more likely for someone who is a suicide bomber.

So let me get this straight. IF this lone suicidal person had killed others nearby when he exploded himself, would the headline be .............. Person Uses Bomb to Commit Suicide Accidentally Killing 20 Others?

Good point. If a person chooses to commit suicide by blowing him or herself up, and doesn't intend for others to be harmed in any way, I would think they would have chosen a remote place to blow themselves up. Also, why would a person who wants to only commit suicide, place other bombs around. Was he going to play Russian Roulette by running around the area until he finally got blown up?

Good point. Yet there are those on this thread that would accuse you of being a conspiracy nut..all we want is to know what really happened, and with few details from the media, can't help but speculate! Sigh...

One other thing about the Univ. of Oklahoma. They are historically one of the leading programs in the country in Petroleum Engineering. I assume they still are. For this reason, maybe others, there has always been a very large group of Middle Eastern males who attended the school.

OK, it seemed to indicate in the report that I read that the procedure had been changed before the bombing. There was some speculation that this person was out with the busses because he had originally intended to go through a normally open entrance that he discovered to be closed when he got there. But obviously, if it was afterwards, we can scratch that one.

Possibly so that it doesn't encourage copy cats?
