Dangerous Hurricane Rita is expected to make landfall in the northeast Gulf of Mexico within 24 hours. Tornados have spawned in Louisiana. Water is filling the Ninth Ward of New Orleans again. A bus carrying elderly evacuees was gutted by fire this morning outside Dallas, with multiple fatalities. Television crews have positioned their hurricane reporters throughout the region to attain maximum drama effects. Whoooooa.

You may have adjusted the $$ for inflation, but you didn't adjust the territory for time. There are some states in that purchase who aren't as corrupt as the current state of Louisiana.
Are you having wind? I'm just a few miles south of Waco. Some wind, but nothing alarming. I have a daughter at SWU in Georgetown and am wondering if there's much wind down that way.
We now have a strong breeze. Not a wind yet, but very, very breezy.
Yeah, Whorealdo is now sucking hind tit...
ping for bumper sticker
Yeah, and practically overnight. Amazing how many Americans are breaking all the known facts of human behavior and becoming intellectual ping pong balls instead, innit? Pardon me while I adjust the tinfoil and forget thourt years of studying human behavior, but color me just a LITTLE bit skeptical.
But it's the unbiased media, so the polls can't in ANY way be weighted to give a false reading, so I must be paranoid(gag)
Shep is in Beaumont, and according to Joe S., he isn't long for this world :(i>
LOL!
sw
Yes, I saw that and did I see him put his hood on for a second, and then have a vain thought about how that might look on TV, and whip it off again?
Woohoo! Cable back on. Shep really does look like a wet dog. Good golly, the wind is whipping his cheek. Shep can stay but let the poor camera guys go home!
Hubby and I are laughing hysterically at Greta....she's talking about unrelenting wind....pounding....and she's standing there, not even a breeze, hardly! Oh my....more wine for me!
That guy was stuck on stupid. Did I hear right that that bridge was better than 100 feet up in the air?
I got home from dinner, turned on the tv and Geraldo was on. Flipped the channel, and Larry King was on. Flipped it back, and Greta was on.
I finally just shut off the tv.
You've got Nagin down right. King of Fools!
I love Geraldo. I will be sad when he retires. Who else on the horizon is going to pull his stunts with such comical flair.
Did you see the reporter from some local station during Katrina? He was standing next to his van talking about the blown out window when this metal bar comes flying right past him as puts a bar shaped dent in the van.
He's lucky it wasn't his head. Too many of these guys think playing around in the wind, rain and flooding is good journalism. I guess they're all after that emmy and job security.
Some recent Houston-Area wind speeds in KNOTS:
Houston Hobby Airport (S Houston) - N 25/Gust 38 - 8:53PM
Houston Bush International (N Houston) - N 21/Gust 35 - 8:53PM
Sugar Land - N 23/Gust 35 - 8:53 PM
Beaumont/Port Arthur - N 034/Gust 49 - 8:53 PM
When I took a trip to Mexico City in 1995, there was a 7.1 and 7.5 quakes on the Pacific coast -- no big deal for Mexico -- though...
(Maybe they were near 7 -- just recall those numbers...)
Our 34 pounder ( a mix, we call her an all-American dog ) never thinks she is a lap dog because she knows we howl (usually in pain, lol) when our big gal tries to move onto a lap.
I'll put that on the request list.
