Hurricane Rita Live Thread, Part VI
NHC - NOAA ^ | 23 September 2005 | NHC - NOAA

Posted on 09/23/2005 9:39:06 AM PDT by NautiNurse

Dangerous Hurricane Rita is expected to make landfall in the northeast Gulf of Mexico within 24 hours. Tornados have spawned in Louisiana. Water is filling the Ninth Ward of New Orleans again. A bus carrying elderly evacuees was gutted by fire this morning outside Dallas, with multiple fatalities. Television crews have positioned their hurricane reporters throughout the region to attain maximum drama effects. Whoooooa.

Just heard him. He's saying Saybine, using a long "i", as in combine. Rolling my eyes. But don't despair, because he's been to Galveston before and he's an authority on Galveston. We can take that to the bank based on his authoritative voice. He also keeps using nautical terms to remind us he's a sailing man.

I want
$250 BILLION!

Just federalize the damn state and make Honore the Military Governor. Say it's for emergency purposes. Then arrest all of them.

You maybe right! Let's do the math.

The Louisiana Purchase describes the United States acquisition of more than 529,911,680 acres (2,144,476 km2) of territory from France in 1803 for $15 million (which, if adjusted for inflation, would equal approximately $193 million in 2005).

I, for one, am not disappointed by that fact.

Now praying for those who will bear the brunt of this.

We are still waiting to see the direction of it. Wind, rain, and tornadoes are likely, if it comes in our direction. We just have rain in the forecast now, so we're waiting to see.
