The Dem playbook
The Hill newspaper gives us a peek at the Democratic playbook for the Roberts hearings. Below are the attack assignments for the Democratic members of the Committee:
Kennedy -- civil rights
Leahy -- Bybee torture memo
Biden -- privacy, personal autonomyand the 9th Amendment
Kohl -- Property rights and civil liberties
Feinstein -- "judicial activism" and Roe vs. Wade
Feingold -- limits of executive powers
Schumer and Durbin have wisely refused to show their hand.

I'm waiting for Biden to call Roberts "Hey Boss" Like he did during Condoleeza Rice's hearings -- I mean "High Tech" raping!

Would that the gloom and doomers on this thread listened to Rush the past few minutes. ROBERTS IS NOT GIVING THE LIBS ANYTHING TO HANG THEIR HATS ON. And if he's said anything of comfort to the libs, once he's on the SC and casts conservative votes in contradiction, what can they do about it?
Judge Roberts HAS to get past this goofy confirmation process, sayeth Rush. I agree. Roberts is playing hardball with a velvet glove.
Senator Specter said in his opening statement that this hearing will be a delicate minuet.
It's my opinion that Judge Roberts is Fred Astaire.

without any constructive criticism whatsoever.Constructive would be one thing, but you're just carping.
Once again, a question you are dodging: who would have been YOUR choice?

Senator Specter said in his opening statement that this hearing will be a delicate minuet. A delicate minuet performed mostly by plodding elephants and one very nimble antelope.

Mrs Roberts seems to be giving all the 'I could kill you' looks that the rest of us want to give. I saw her hop up in her seat a couple of times, as though she couldn't contain herself in her fury.

Thanks Howlin, perhaps he will answer you, he has not answered me.

So far, Roberts has wiped up the floor with the Dems - "Snake" Leahy, "Chivas" Kennedy, "Plugs" Biden - and I think they realise it. Look for them to get even more desperate to provoke Roberts into a gotcha soundbite. Schumer will be fun to watch. He thinks as much about himself as Biden thinks about himself, which is an awful lot. He's going down as well.
The Dems should have known better than to bring chimpish mental midgets to an adult intellectual basketball game but they can't help themselves. That's all the team have.
They still haven't accepted they lost the election, never will. They just need to be beaten into submission, not reasoned with.

Take your time Mr. Biden, that's an awfully big chip you have there.

You saw that too! Awesome. I hope AP has a picture of that today...I really do applaude Thompson for his perfect response to the subtle "teasing" (AKA, "disrespecting") from Biden.
I was asking myself how I would react to Biden, if he said he and I were alike, intellectually.
My first temptation would have been to scowl and that would have been the wrong reaction.
Thompson deflected the joke back onto Biden.

I have no idea what she is doing...I don't have TV.
However, if her body language looks bad, it may be muscle knots caused by trying to restrain herself from jumping across the table and assaulting Biden.

I'm not the POTUS and I haven't changed the subject either. PresBush picked John Roberts to sit on the USSC. I found a few problems with his testimony today and I have a serious problem with his involvement in Romer v Evans. In America we debate issues and use our free speech right to speak out on whatever sparks our interests. That's what I'm doing.
If I was POTUS, my first choice would have been Michael Luddig over John Roberts.
Stop being so critical of political dissent. The Founding Fathers believed it was a fundamental right to our representative constitutional republic. And so do I.
