[history]
The disastrous federal response to Katrina exposes a record of incompetence, misjudgment and ideological blinders that should lead to serious doubts that the Bush administration should be allowed to continue in office.
When taxpayers have raised, borrowed and spent $40 billion to $50 billion a year for the past four years for homeland security but the officials at the Federal Emergency Management Agency cannot find their own hands in broad daylight for four days while New Orleans and the Mississippi Gulf Coast swelter, drown and die, it is time for them to go.

Slash and burn. That used to describe how some primitive countries managed their woodlands, going through virgin stands of rain forest, to free up land for subsistance agriculture, only to abandon it a few short years later, and move on to new fields where again the cycle of slash and burn went on.
Now this has come to describe the means by which Dem'crats intend to reclaim political power. The verdant growth of the economy has proved to be an irresistable target for the slash-and-burn predators, who destroy whole systems of highly complex interrelations and viable growth, for short-term advantage, then they, like the primitive subsistance farmers, simply abandon the locality and move on.
A whole new perspective on what motivates the "greenies" begins to emerge. They want to exploit new regrowth somewhere down the line, after forcing the old established power structure out of the way. Even given the opportunity of redevelopment, they shall, in the end, end up exploiting the environment just as mercilessly as the old order once did. But because they abhor technology in their rush to harvest, they end up being ultimately even more destructive of the environment than their ancestors.
The "greenies" may not realize, and even vehemently deny, that is what they are doing, but that is the effect.

Surprise, surprise, surprise.... Gordon Adams, director of security policy studies at the Elliott School of International Affairs at George Washington University, was senior White House budget official for national security in the Clinton administration.

Is this a REAL newspaper article?
The insanity of the Dems and MSM over this is just laughable.

It's a
personal opinion written by Gordon Adams and appears on the Baltimore Sun's "Opinion ~ op/ed" page.
The opinion is notated with at the bottom with this:
"Gordon Adams, director of security policy studies at the Elliott School of International Affairs at George Washington University, was senior White House budget official for national security in the Clinton administration"

"Most of the people that die with heart disease and cancer are our elderly population, and you know we all will probably die with something sooner or later and we've been investing in heart disease and cancer and I feel that we should continue - I'm not down playing that. But what I am saying is that we are losing the people that's going to pay my Social Security, and that bothers me."
