Just heard on FOX that Blanco refused to allow supplies to be brought to the stadium, "Because they wanted all those people to leave, and they didn't want to create a magnet to bring others there, by bringing in food and water!"""
5/26/05
Almost one-quarter of the nearly $700 million in capital outlay funding Gov. Kathleen Blanco's administration cancelled
According to the www.legis. state.la.us Web site, area projects eliminated from the capital outlay bill included:
# Mooring pier repairs at the Twin Parish Port: $740,000.
# Deepwater channel feasibility study for the Port of Iberia: $200,000.
# Armenco Branch Canal drainage improvements: $1,400,000.
# Eagle Point Park Road, planning and construction: $1,900,000.
# Water system improvements in Delcambre, planning and construction: $480,000.
Dredging of a portion of the Delcambre Canal: $100,000.
Industrial Park on Highway 90, roadway and infrastructure, planning and construction: $1,200,000
Water Tower to service I-10 and Rees Street area (Breaux Bridge), planning and construction: $400,000.
Water system improvements in Parks, planning and construction: $990,000.
Drainage improvements in Columbia Subdivision near Franklin, planning and construction: $125,000.
Brashear Avenue drainage canal conversion to subsurface drainage, planning and construction: $2,100,000.
But this mayor did NOTHING even when the President called and begged him to order an evacuation and the storm was heading up their gut.
I can't even imagine being so worried about what people thought that you would take that risk. I can't imagine that level of cowardice.
I'll bet that makes little Chrissy Mathews HOT. LMAO.
What happened in the hospitals because they were under seige is a story waiting to get out. People could not be evacuated by ambulance because people outside were trying to carjack the ambulances, in an area where the road was passable. People died because they were at least 24 hours more hours without adequate electric power than they could have been.
The f'in mayor is worried about the mental health of his police force. I have yet to hear word one about what the nurses, doctors, RTs, etc in the hospitals endured - watching their patients die one by one.
I can't come up with one logical reason why the DWF sent this large group of 500 boats/1000 men home when we surely could have rescued most, if not all, of the people trapped in Charity Hospital. Further, we had the means to immediately transport these people to hospitals in Southwest Louisiana.
F'n unbelievable. Deserves its own thread.
I too heard his report, this will be all over the nightly newz right? < sarcasm on >
LOL! Ok - it's not likely. But I'm not givin up :)
He's buying them off so they'll keep their mouths shut. It's bloody transparent.
I think this is the single thing that most people are upset with Fema Director Brown about. I wish that every time some of these shrill bozos such as John Gibson of FNC starts ranting about Brown should be fired that someone would be there to explain to them why those poor souls didn't get water, food and medicine sooner. I heard the head of the Red Cross explain on FNC that the Red Cross had all these supplies ready to roll into the Superdome and the Convention Center but that the LA State homeland security people told her no.
..and I suppose the MSM will report this insane decision by the Gov of LA..Yea sure .........
The democRAT and leftist finger pointing MUST come home to
roost against those that would make hay of a disaster that
spans 70,000 square miles.
The locals and state dems screwed up and all USA communities
should remember this FACT.
Your post confirms my suspicion. People of her ilk exploit the people they disdain for their own gain. Her actions clearly convey her total disregard for the very people who voted her into office. And we hear complaints about racism?
I volunteer at a shelter. A woman told me today that they had water and MRE's the entire time. She evacuated on Fri. night.

A lot of blame for the news last week has to go to the on camera guys who hyped up the "no food and water" story. Really there were no hot meals and cold cokes. There was so much trash at the Superdome when the evac was complete that it was obvious something had been handed out.
do you have a link to his bio?
She's obviously incapable of making a timely decision........except for that doozy when she allegedly denied the American Red Cross access to the Superdome in the crucial hours after Katrina hit.
Shep is in MS and just said on Hannity that the folks there are camped out and positive with their 'we support the troops flags flying.' Thanks Shep.
...and the tlot plickens...
