There was an earlier Ford Truck recall. Is this a different issue?
My F-150 is a 2004.

The U.S. auto industry is really in trouble -- recent GM developments prove that -- and it all ripples down to quality of their products because that is what is being cut to provide for the socialistic union-pandering overhead costs that are KILLING this industry, just like it killed the steel industry in this country...

Why people continue to buy Fords is beyond me.

"The Ford F-series truck has been the best-selling full-size pickup for nearly three decades. In July, when the company offered its employee discount to all buyers, Ford's F-series set a record for the highest monthly sales of any vehicle since the 1920s with total sales of 126,905 trucks, or an average 4,880 each day for the 26 sales days that month."Love my '01 F-150 SVT Lightning!!

I used to have a 1980 Chevy PU with outboard gas tanks.
In the 90s, GM refused to recall most of the affected trucks because they were to old ( I think the cutoff was 7 years).
This resulted in a class action suit that was eventually settled for which I received a coupon for $2000 toward the purchase of a new GM truck which I never used. I probably should have sold it for a couple hundred bucks.

Anybody know if the Escape SUV is included in the recall? I have a 2002 Escape and absolutely love it.

I own a 1999 F-150. Looks like I'll be running it down to the dealer.

What a coinkydink. My '96 F-150 was towed to the shop yesterday and I just got off the phone (not five minutes ago) with the mechanic. I had a short (and small fire) in the engine at the master cylinder for the braking system. The real problem, he said, was with a short in the cruise control but he did not know if there was a formal recall yet. Like I said, what a coinkydink...

Doesn't affect me. Mine is a 2005 F-150 and I've yet to have a problem with it. Just oil and filter changes thus far. I've bought a dozen new Fords over the past 15 years and they have essentially been bullet-proof.

I have a 96 Windstar and seem to have this same cruise control cut-out switch on the master cylinder. I guess the Windstars are not burning down houses and killing people yet.
But now that I know the fix, I may just do it myself.

Thanks, my 96 OJ Simpson's Bronco is being recalled.

Anybody talking about the Toyota recall on the Forerunner? Evidently a tie rod might break when turning the wheel while stopped.

cruise control switch suspected of causing engine fires So THAT'S why I've been able to light my cigarettes using the cruise control switch!
To: seacapn
