WASHINGTON -- Ford Motor Co. on Wednesday recalled 3.8 million pickup trucks and sport utility vehicles for a cruise control switch suspected of causing engine fires. It is the fifth largest auto industry recall in U.S. history.
Ford said the recall of 1994-2002 model-year vehicles includes the company's hot-selling F-150 pickup truck, Ford Expedition, Lincoln Navigator and Ford Broncos. The company said it would start sending out recall notices to vehicle owners immediately.

Great ride. I like the Mustang SVT GT Cobra whenever they build the new one. :)

I got a new set but I'm not going to screw with this recall.
You might want to rethink that decision. IIRC a number of trucks burned down in their garages - while "off" and in many cases the house went with the garage. Your call. ;-)

I hate minivans. I got by without having one by only having two children. They are grown now. Your Windstar does sound like the 85 Chevy Cavalier my Ex just had to have. Just a big pile of poop.

Anybody know if the Escape SUV is included in the recall? I have a 2002 Escape and absolutely love it. The Escape is not included. I was going to buy an Escape until I read that the consumer magazine wouldn't recommend it because it didn't pass the tipover test.

We have always had GMCs or Chevys until I got my 2001 Ford. I have never had a problem with it. I think the seats are uncomfortable but no mechanical problems whatsoever and it was bought as Salvage which means it was totalled at some point.

I have a two car garage, but my motorcycle and power tools take up all of the room ~ plus my wife's stuff. ;)
We have a big parking area in front of the garage for the the two four wheel vehicles. It is large enough for a 28' Bounder Motorhome, the Bronco and a '69 VW Bajabug I built to tow behind the motorhome.
In '01 I totaled the motorhome and Bajabug when I ran off of the road trying remove the cat from my lap. ;)
With the insurance money I bought the F-150 Lightning.

Why people continue to buy Fords is beyond me.I have had 3 Explorers, no problems with them.
I also have a '91 Ranger, and she keeps on ticking.

It's our main driver ~ Barb drives the Bronco when she's doing her own thing around town. ;)

My Marine bought a brand new Ford Explorer Sport Trac truck last February - within just a few months an entire section of the electronic panel went out that showed how much gas is in the vehicle, the dome light and a couple of other indicators - it has taken him "awhile" to get it repaired, not to mention them telling him it was repaired when it wasn't........... Not sure another Ford is in our future.

We got one too, but when the bike breaks down we haul it home in the Ford truck.

My 1999 F-150 has 26,000 miles on it. I bought it in August 2003 with 22,500 miles. The dealer did the recall fix for me in less than 30 minutes from the moment I stepped in the door. It was the brake switch that needed to be replaced. The deliver checked my VIN and verified that no other pending recall issues remain.

Why people continue to buy Fords is beyond me. I guess the 90 F350 dully sitting in my drive way with 245,000 miles on it, never having any major work done to it is the reason or the 85 Ford F350 Crew Cab Dully with over 300,000 thousand miles ( no major work) I got rid of three years ago. Both never had the engine, transmission or read end opened!

Well you are probably a genius and do all that fancy stuff like having your oil changed regularly, right? ;^)
Glad your vehicle has been so reliable for you - I'm hoping my husband's will be too, now that they have that glitch taken care of.
