Such emotional scenes were repeated perhaps thousands of times along the Gulf Coast last week as pet owners were forced to abandon their animals in the midst of evacuation.

Either you get that kind of love or you don't
I've seen her.... If everyone is gone but that reporter, the woman and the dog, as she claims, then that media crew better make room in the van on their way out.
I don't understand wny you're so prickly about this.
You give the impression that unless a person behaves the way you and your family do, they deserve no compassion. Sad.
I agree with you 100%.
BTW...you still got room for an Irish lass who wants to go shootin'? ;-)
Who are they?
I love my dog and I don't ignore or believe old people are throw-aways
Ya know it is possible to love both mankind AND animals, sorry that seems like such a hard concept to gasp
If I can't take my 8 cats, no dice. I'll sleep in my Explorer if I had to.
Sorry, everyone, but people are more important than animals.
(My flame suit is on.)
True, but the choice is a straw man. Most of the pets could have easily been rescued and transported out of town with their humans, but the government officials were petty. There was no need for the animals to be left behind.
Sure. But I live in the city. I think I'd rather shoot a liberal than a deer. A deer has never raised my taxes. ;)
My Grandmother used to say that whenever an animal comes to you, it's a gift from God. And you, my friend, have been blessed.
What a handsome fellow Homer is.
So very sad for pets and owners. So heartbreaking. A pet is a child to most owners, and this is unacceptable that they cannot be evacuated with the families.
Something equally sad was when the military dog handlers in Vietnam were told that they had to leave their beloved scout dogs behind to an uncertain fate when they had to quickly evacuate at the end of the Vietnam war. These men never got over the fact that they had to abandon these faithful companions. :o(
Pretty neat that your cat comes with a mouse cord attachment.
My local Humane Society is taking care of many "hurricane dogs" -- dogs whose owners have been evacuated to local shelters (or hotels) that don't allow animals. No doubt the animals are confused, but they are safe and well fed and available to be reunited with their owners in the future. Pet owners that have to evacuate should think about this option.
She also runs on 120 volts, 60 cycle AC power. B-)
No flame suit required , everyone agrees with you however we can love both humans and animals can't we?
You betcha. And he does the most adorable begging posture that someone taught him somewhere in his unknown past.
I want soo much to reach out and pet her.
Please pet her and scratch her and say that Shazbot will have her in his prayers always :)))]]
Hey! I think we may have a plan! *LOL*
hehe
Princess (the older Husky) does something similar.
If she wants loved on, she will come up and put her head against your knee or your leg. When you pet her, she will come around and pretty much lay against you...its great.
