Microsoft plans to outsource more, says ex-worker [Moving 1,000+ jobs to China]
Seattle Times (Excerpt) ^ | September 3, 2005 | Brier Dudley

Excerpt -

Microsoft is on track to outsource more than 1,000 jobs a year to China, according to blistering evidence released yesterday in Microsoft's increasingly nasty spat with Google over an employee who jumped ship in July.

In a revelation that highlights the complexity of China President Hu Jintao's visit to Seattle and Microsoft on Monday, legal filings detailed claims of how Microsoft had offended the Chinese government by not outsourcing as many jobs as promised to Chinese technology vendors.

Chief Executive Steve Ballmer visited China in 2003 and promised to step up the pace, from $33 million worth of work a year to $55 million a year, according to a statement by Kai-Fu Lee, a former vice president who left to work for Google in July. Lee was charged with smoothing over relations with China and finding jobs that could be shifted to Chinese contract workers.

"At the time of my departure, MS was on track to outsource over 1,000 jobs a year to China," he said in a court declaration. A Microsoft spokeswoman said the company has transferred some projects to China "in order to free up teams here for other work."

It's totally overblown, but whatever. That was the 40s, and the Nazis didnt do anything they couldnt already do.

On the other hand, Microsoft is parterning with the chicoms NOW and Gates is praising them NOW.

So by that logic, we should forgive Hitler?  I mean, come on, that was 60+ years ago.  Forgive and forget ... time heals all wounds, right?

Oh wait, you said a positive experience ... never mind.

LOL.

Actually I said "relate one positive experience".

It was three days since I posted that and forgotten what it was all about. I thought you were making fun of me.

Never mind, good story. I've had similar experiences.

When a company outsources human interfaces like Help Desk or Tech Support overseas, sell your stock, you know the owners are.

Outsourcing, no matter how good the recipe book is, just doesn't work for me.

I've worked in an all-Indian company here in the States and they're a whole other culture, one which, in my opinion, doesn't have any moral values.

Besides there's the whole communication problem. I speak 1-1/2 foreign languages, but Indian english is a dialect once removed from American English.

Trading with China is worth BILLIONS to Microsoft. Wouldn't you do the same?

Absolutely not. We don't kowtow to ChiCom dictators like Bill Gates does - we advocate their overthrow and we take what we want without paying them a penny. Unlike Microsoft, our strategy benefits the national interests of the United States, not Red China.

If you follow your own link:

Harry Reid - 4000$ (two donations of 2000$ each)

Tom Daschle - 2000$

Patty Murray - 6000$ (multiple donations - some retracted donations at the end of the list)

Jim McDermott - 1000$

Using your Bird Logic:

Bill Gates *parents* have also donated substantial amounts of money to Democrat candidates, including maxing out to John Effing Kerry.

So you are saying that you belong to a company that refuses to do business with China, and, in fact, publicly advocates it's destruction?

Sorry, Hal, but I find that very hard to believe.

He gave to GWB too. Face it, you've already lost the point. I claimed he was middle of the road, and the evidence proves it. Guys like adam_az tried to selectively post only one side of the equation, and got busted for it. Gates gives to both.

He also speaks out against "communism". So does Ballmer. They condem it. There seems to be some disagreement on whether modern China is 100% communist, but they do realize the dangers of communism, and have spoken out against it. These are all facts that all your twisting and spinning can't deny.

The real issue is how you want to selectively attack MS but give IBM a complete pass on the issue. IBM has been dealing with China much longer than MS, literally GIVES technology to the Chicoms for free, has a much closer relationship with the Chicom government, and openly refers to the fascist leaders as their partners. It is a much bigger issue that has been known for a much longer time. I admit I am disapointed that MS is begining to follow IBM's lead.

I created a thread lamblasting Gates for his comments praising modern China. Yet the record clearly shows you have never once criticised IBM for much greater collusion with the Chicoms, ever. You've given them a complete pass, for much greater support of China, look at all the links above, including selling the IBM PC division to the Chicom government for a fraction of the value. Most obviously, Microsoft has never been fined by US government for illegal tech transfers, to anyone, but no one has any more than IBM. Yet not a peep out of you. That's all fine and dandy, apparently.

Bottom line, you seem to hate Bill Gates just as much as communists do. In fact you seem to have a lot in common with them. And don't blame me for stating facts, because as you know that's all I deal in.

I said - Ballmer hasn't made any anti-communist statements other than to call Linux "communism," which is idiotic.

You replied - "Not according to communism.org, they say it's a perfect example of it."

TOTAL SPIN MODE

You answered with a red herring.

I challenged you that Ballmer made no anti-communism statement - in fact the one you posted was a satire!

you responded with what some other yay-hoos said - not ballmer.

I guess communism.org is an authoritative source to you? Do you think everything else they say is for real too? Or just the things you agree with?

YOU agree with stuff posted on the communism.org site - not me. What does that say about the both of us, trollboy?

"Obviously not. Nor is it part of any Open Source "movement" that's trying to pass laws requiring it's use. That's where the problem is, those in the DNC that are trying to mandate it's use. If you don't think that's a problem, then admit it, but I've framed that issue quite clearly, and you refuse to address it."

MANDATE it's use?

Clearly you don't know the meaning of the word Mandate.

You're worse than the Dems. At least I know where they stand, while you are a trollish phony conservative.

"Gates is the richest man in the world and has spoken out against communism. He also is trying to sell products to China in the hope they eventually do away with communism completely."

Gates has NOT spoken against communism - he as PRAISED IT as the quote I posted. In fact, he praised the Chinese as CAPITALISTS. You are LYING again, as usual.

"The obvious problem is those you seem to support who want to GIVE software to China, for free, and are doing so every single day. You haven't spoken out against them once, and probably never will, you have had plenty of opportunity already."

Bilge is GIVING them Windows. He is GIVNG them the Windows source code. He is GIVING them jobs writing it.

He is PUMPING investment into their economy.

Since you think Windows iz superior, isn't that a GREATER risk?

You think Linux sucks and is insecure compared to windows. I'd think you'd be happy that they'd be using what is in your eyes an insecure, inferior OS!

"Stop killing a third of kids before they're even born, get the ones who're allowed to live to spend time working on math and electronics rather than self-esteem and cultural awareness, and then you can start complaining about all the jobs being "exported.""

My fiancee is a Junior in a Biochemistry program at a private university. She's taking Analytical Chem this semester - there are 4 people in the class. That's it. It's the only instance of that class being given this semester. By comparison, there are 30 in her "Sculpture" class.

Mandate means require. Just like communist governments have passed laws that require the use of open source instead of products the US is attempting to sell. I've given you countless links of this. Now the liberals all across this country are doing the same thing. I've given you countless links to that as well. Yet you've never once condemned any of it. Obviously you condone it. Look up the word condone if you don't know what it means.

"So by that logic, we should forgive Hitler? I mean, come on, that was 60+ years ago. Forgive and forget ... time heals all wounds, right?"

RED HERRING.

IBM US had NOTHING to do with the Nazis. Watson an award Hitler had sent him BEFORE the war!

You didn't respond to my decimation of your argument about IBM opening subsidiaries in occupied territory - as I showed, it was DEHOMAG which had been nationalized by the Nazis - you replied with a stupid red herring.

You are such a troll.

You are a filthy, revisionist liar, again.

You said that Gates is a big republican supporter - so I responded with examples of Dems he gave to.

"He also speaks out against "communism". So does Ballmer. They condem it."

NEITHER DOES. They both PRAISE the ChiComs. The Ballmer example you gave was a SATIRE article. I dare you to provide the links as a reply to this posting.

"There seems to be some disagreement on whether modern China is 100% communist,"

Then why do you care whether they use Linux, Trollbird? LOL - Gates has PRAISED the ChiComs. Gates praise ChiComs - there is some queastion as to whether they are communist - Gates good. ChiComs use Linux - bad. Chinese are commies! Make up your birdbrain.

"but they do realize the dangers of communism, and have spoken out against it."

GATES has praised communists as capitalists in an incredible feat of inversion, Ballmer has been mute.

"These are all facts that all your twisting and spinning can't deny."

POST THE QUOTES, SUCKER.

He clearly spoke out against "communism". He never once praised "communism". He like many other US economists don't see modern china as "communist", because they aren't redistributing their wealth evenly according to the principles of Marx. But they are fascist, and dangerous. And IBM colludes with them much more closely.

Since all you can do is bold your fonts and call me names, I'm signing off from this thread. You apparently have some sort of mental disorder that triggers whenever the word Microsoft is spoken, which requires you to ignore reason and other companies that have been colluding with China for much longer. When the US government starts fining MS for illegal tech transfers, or launching investigations of them for selling entire divisions of their company to the Chinese government for pennies on the dollar, and Republican congressmen speaking out against their actions, like we have seen with IBM, let me know. Till then, blow your hot air on someone else.

None of us have praised it, either, and I wouldn't call it "Far greater." IBM hasnt given China access to AIX sources, after all, have they? Meanwhile you support the Gates gun grabbiner dnc supporter to the hilt.

"You've given them a complete pass, for much greater support of China, look at all the links above, including selling the IBM PC division to the Chicom government for a fraction of the value."

1) The sale was APPROVED BY THE BUSH ADMINISTRATION. If you have a problem, take it out on Bush.

2) IBM doesn't sell anything for a fraction of it's value! They take their shareholder value very seriously. How about citing a source?

"Most obviously, Microsoft has never been fined by US government for illegal tech transfers, to anyone, but no one has any more than IBM."

Cite a souce? I think you just made this up. Can you cite even 3 or 4 examples, and a souce saying that IBM is the most cited company? That's the standard your statement held you up to!

"Bottom line, you seem to hate Bill Gates just as much as communists do."

The REAL Communists LOVE Gates. You know, the ChiComs who he praises as CAPITALISTS. You seem obsessed with what some idiots with a geocities page say in the abstract, while you hero BilGe praises them as capitalists in a feat of historic inversion.

"In fact you seem to have a lot in common with them. "

No, you do, what with your red herring non-answers.

"And don't blame me for stating facts, because as you know that's all I deal in."

lol you are such a joke. You deal in red herring non-answers. This would be a funny statement if it weren't so sad.

CITE THE SOURCES!

"ince all you can do is bold your fonts and call me names, I'm signing off from this thread. "

How convenient.

You were busted posting a phony Ballmer quote.

You were busted on claiming that the Chinese aren't really communists, except when they use Linux.

You were busted in not being able to respond with quotes that you claim exist, because they DON'T.

Now you're going to exit the thread - how convenient!!! LOL!

I can't wait for the day where you are ZOTted... and you're little dog, too.

You're right, that was B2k. Apology - he is the troll.

Still - IBM US had NADA to do with DEHOMAG in Europe during the war.

Why would you suggest we "forgive" the Nazis? That's silly.
