Mary Landrieu: I'll Punch Bush, 'Literally'
NewsMax.com ^ | Sept. 4, 2005 | Carl Limbacher

Posted on 09/04/2005 7:19:18 AM PDT by Carl/NewsMax

Sen. Mary Landrieu threatened the president of the United States with physical violence on Sunday, saying that if he or any other government official criticizes New Orleans police for failing to keep civil order in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina - "I might likely have to punch him - literally."

"If one person criticizes [our sheriffs], or says one more thing, including the president of the United States, he will hear from me - one more word about it after this show airs and I - I might likely have to punch him - literally," Landrieu railed on "ABC's "This Week."

It is illegal to threaten the president with physical violence.

The Louisiana Democrat blasted Bush for neglecting the New Orleans levees, and demanded that he stop using the disaster for "photo-ops."

"The president came here yesterday for a photo-op," Landrieu charged, while surveying the disaster scene via helicopter with "This Week" host George Stephanopoulos in tow. "He got his photo-op but we are never going to get this fixed if he does not send us help now."

Landrieu also blamed Bush for cutting funding for levee improvement, before bursting into tears on camera.

In recent days, Louisiana officials have been criticized for bungling evacuation and rescue efforts. One of those officials, Lt. Gov. Mitch Landrieu, is Sen. Landrieu's brother.

The stress created by the storm simply brings to the surface the real divisions in this country. All the rhetorical devices in the world cannot cover them up.

And who exacerbates those divisions? It seems to be that there is a group of people who makes their living pointing out misery (or feigned miseries). The "rhetoric" is part of the problem.

Landrieu is a model DemocRAT liberal entitlement queen.

#1 - why should the Federal Government be EXPECTED to pay to preserve a sinking chunk of land that people CHOOSE to live and build in - despite the very well known DANGER of said property?

If I buy a house in a flood-prone (and New Orleans DEFINITELY qualifies as that!) area, I am required to pay for flood insurance. If I want my property to be relatively safe from flood waters, especially if in a rural, unincorporated part of the county, guess who will have to pay for improvements to help prevent flooding (assuming it doesn't interfere with some sort of wetlands area protected by environazi laws and regulations) - ME. If I don't want the added expense of land improvements and flood liability, then I buy/build somewhere else.

Sorry folks - there is no entitlement to receive tax dollars for your own risk. Unfortunately, that cat was let out of the bag many years ago.

But Landrieu should be locked up. Incompetence in office should also, at minimum, receive a recall vote by the people of LA after things settle down a bit. The level of incompetence displayed by the political "machine" in LA is astounding (actually, probably criminal).

Another thing - We keep hearing about how Bush supposedly cut funding to the flood control project - yet there were still millions of dollars funded of the project - what did they do with THOSE funds? Where's the local contribution to the project?

If you're still in the area, I hope you're in a safe place....

I think there is enough time before the elections, that once everyone is safe and cared for -- there will be plenty of time to get out the truth as to why so many remained in New Orleans and why the city desolved into a helpless and murderous zoo.

The city/state "civil servants" and many of the city residents will turn out to have been equally as dangerous as the storm....

Well, Senator, I saw film of some of New Orleans' finest participating in the looting of a Wal-Mart. Can I criticize that?

I'm North Central. Thanks for asking. We're safe up here. When my hubby drives into town the traffic is bumper to bumper. I have been house bound since the hurricane to avoid the masses.

Today, we placed all our guns around the house instead of just the living room. Seems like there are crime spikes on the outlying areas of where the refugees are sent. It appears a lot of criminals have been shuffled around.

I like President Bush very much too. And as I look back through my own life, at how Presidents were criticized, and compare then to now?

The criticisms NOW now are so coarse, adolescent-level and lowball. No intelligence required. Just the ability to do "drive-by verbal assaults". Bah.

"If one person criticizes [our sheriffs], or says one more thing, including the president of the United States, he will hear from me - one more word about it after this show airs and I - I might likely have to punch him - literally."

I personally blame the sheriffs, the more than half in the NO police department that abandoned their posts and engaged in looting; I blame Mayor Nagin for letting school buses and metro transportation buses slide under flood waters; and most of all, Sen. Landrieu, I blame you and your family for decades of graft, croneyism and criminality that swiftly reduced New Orleans from the Queen of the South into the Creole Cesspool that it is today.

Now bring it on.

I did not catch his name, but the following is evident.

He is a man of class, distinction, and should have been the Governor of La. P.S. He is also an "American."

Okay, I'm beginning to see a pattern. Is this the new Democrat strategery -- CRYING??? First the governoress, then the mayor, now the senator.

Does anyone remember seeing Giuliani crying when there was work to be done?

She's unworthy of holding high office as evidenced by her threat of physical violence against the President.

"The MSM lying out their asses and twisting it to fit their hate America, hate-Bush agendas, is enough to make me puke."

Some will hate me for this, maybe even call me a racist, but I have had it and I flat don't care anymore.

I am not a wealthy man, but I do just fine. My Bride and I had $2000 that we had decided to send to help in the effort. Not any more!!!! These libs nut jobs have made this so dirty that I am no longer motivated to send even one single dime..."NOT ONE DIME".

Instead, I took that 2K and bought my Bride a new refrigerator! Screw the libs......every last one of them!

Now should I figure out a way to make a donation directly to a Conservative...........no problem, as I can have that saved up in a couple of months. BUT...... these libs can all rot for all I care.
