Sen. Mary Landrieu threatened the president of the United States with physical violence on Sunday, saying that if he or any other government official criticizes New Orleans police for failing to keep civil order in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina - "I might likely have to punch him - literally."
"If one person criticizes [our sheriffs], or says one more thing, including the president of the United States, he will hear from me - one more word about it after this show airs and I - I might likely have to punch him - literally," Landrieu railed on "ABC's "This Week."
It is illegal to threaten the president with physical violence.
The Louisiana Democrat blasted Bush for neglecting the New Orleans levees, and demanded that he stop using the disaster for "photo-ops."
"The president came here yesterday for a photo-op," Landrieu charged, while surveying the disaster scene via helicopter with "This Week" host George Stephanopoulos in tow. "He got his photo-op but we are never going to get this fixed if he does not send us help now."
Landrieu also blamed Bush for cutting funding for levee improvement, before bursting into tears on camera.
In recent days, Louisiana officials have been criticized for bungling evacuation and rescue efforts. One of those officials, Lt. Gov. Mitch Landrieu, is Sen. Landrieu's brother.
Can you imagine what these socialists would do if they actually had to depend on the Feds for their Hillary care that they want so badly?
The amazing disconnect and lack of civic education of Dem constituents is astounding.
A Democrat crossing the line? Surely you jest! /sarc
Republcans are too busy trying to get people out, fed,
and housed to waste time trying to *cover their asses*
by LYING!
Didnt the levee committee purchase a casino, plane etc. with the monies that were to be used for improvements..?
Thank you...I can't even keep up with the speed of this thread...I missed this while going to the end.
So interesting how Mary Landrieu is getting so much attention from the MSM. Louisiana does have another U.S. Senator, right? Why isn't he being interviewed and propped up like Mary? Oh, wait. He's a Republican.
Never mind.
When the Dems go on the warpath over and over like this with ridiculous poisonous attacks and scaprgoating they reinforce the perception that they are unserious and unfit to govern. Their shrill attacks invite the question: if not Bush, then whom? And the response of many is: certainly not the likes of you.
So the Dems, in their effort to get a leg up, instantly eliminate themselves from consideration, and by showing simple restraint and discretion Bush remains above them.
The Dems are the little party that cried 'scandal'. They could probably profit from this by playing the role of the honest, circumspect, constructive critic. But that role is anathema to the character of their party.
I would love to hear from the Senator as I'm sure would Bush. She could explain why those who were sworn to protect and serve were busy filling a cart in a store full of looters. She can also explain why the mandatory evacuation was not executed properly and no attempt was made to follow the disaster plans that were in place.
"I need to quit reading this stuff........my blood is boiling!"
Same here. My wife is starting to look at me strangely, think I will go watch some 'OLD' movies for a while.

Thanks Mary. That makes it official. Bush is the Dems daddy.
That starts with the governor and goes on down to the able-bodied men who did nothing but complain and sat around when they could have helped their fellow citizens to safety or in relief of their suffering.
The trash running Louisiana are a disgrace to the United States. They are pathetic.
These worthless blabbermouths are blaming the rest of the American people for their own failures to evacuate when it could have helped and was obvious it was necessary.
They are calling us all racists as if that will cause a warm outflowing of charity.
I hope New Orleans is never rebuilt. It was a sewer of human corruption and sloth before the hurricane.
I bet you are right...thanks for the reminder that he will be back!
bump for history.
The ones that jumped ship I presume?
You are absolutely right! I've been over at DU this a.m. marveling at the crass level of name-calling and whining. W is doing the right thing, staying above the fray, and providing steady leadership. He makes the dims look like adolescent idiots. BTW, it was fascinating to see the DU denizens defending the NO police and not one word about the roving armed gangs!
I thought that this guy was one of the only adults on the LA team.
