I didn't see it either, but it wouldn't surprise me if it was Julianne Malveaux. With all the race-baiting going on, she and Cornell West ought to be out anytime time now.
The Dems have been "threatening" to hold lots of Congressional hearings over this, and I sincerely hope they get their wish. T'would be fun to watch as documents and witnesses are brought in to expose for all the world to see the kind of corruption that went on down there.
Heck, it was originally supposed to be a Cat 5 with a direct hit on New Orleans. Knowing this, Nagin did not have even have the foresight to evacuate the nursing homes.
PD, if a real investigation takes place, it's going to go MUCH higher than Nagin. The entire LA political establishment is a festering boil that's been begging to be lanced for decades. The GOP has been prodding away at it, but Katrina may be the thing that blows it open for good. And anyone who doesn't think the rot reaches all the way up to the highest levels of the DNC is a fool.
What? You've got to be kidding?
If school buses were not designed for adults then why are they part of the regional transit authority in Chicago (PACE)????!!!!???
We don't agree We should focus our energies accordingly.
Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!
Wasn't Broussard the name of the chief in the Police Academy movies. Maybe they should hire that guy instead.
kickbacks......
I read somewhere yesterday that FEMA wouldn't let the ARC into NOLA because they said (1) it wasn't secure due to the looters and (2) they felt having the Red Cross there providing relief would encourage people to stay, and they wanted everyone out. Need to find the link.
No.. and it was only even mentioned at all (in passing) was of course on FOX... the other networks were too busy asking about who in the Bush admin is going to resign over it.
Word is that the Witt, Slater, and Clarke (Wesley) outfit were paid $500,000 for the "plan", and now Blanco has hired Witt to evaluate the plan. Unreal, isn't it?
>New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin said he would likely call for the state's largest city to be evacuated early on Sunday and might use the Louisiana Superdome as a giant shelter.<
On WWL that Sunday, Nagin said it was impossible to go in and get the citizens out, because "even if we did send transportation, the people won't go".
He NEVER even tried.
W won't blame the police, heck he hasn't even blamed the mayor and gov (though I took his comment last Wed when he said things were unacceptable to me the locals and not the Feds). What Ms Mary and the other Dims don't understand is leaders don't point fingers - they roll up their sleeves, get to work, and get results now and may do an after action/post mortum report later. The President is a leader - - something most of them will never be.
