Now would be the time to nominate Ted Olsen. The dems can't fight him and win. He could be nominated on 9/11. The day he lost his wife. I believe he could be nominated to Chief Justice. That would eliminate one hearing.
Just thinking out loud here...but it seems like a good choice for now.
Prayers for the Chief, the President, and all Americans...it has been a long and hard week. Remember we still have a lot to be thankful for and that we live in the greatest nation ever devised by man. With help from above and vigilant people such as the majority of the folks here...we will prevail over the evils that face us.
We are Americans.
JEDI.

Mark Levin on FOX now!
Susan said we need a politician on court, we have enough politicians on the COurt! WooHoo Mark!
Mark slapping down Bush is weakened by hurricane. Constitution remains same. Still the President. Still majority ion Congress. Idea win broenie points by not nonominating a Constitutionalist ridiculus. Amen Mark.
Libs are damn stupid-me.

I think that GWB will surprise everyone and appoint someone to tweak the Dems really bad. The Hell with a lib or so-called Centrist put a Black Conservative Jewish Woman in there. Now to find her, that is the problem.

I think that would be an amazing ploy by the republicans. Here is what democrats SAY they will do for black people, here is what republicans actually DO for black people.
To: Republican Red; Howlin
It knocks the race war they're instigating off the front pages for awhile. I figured the opposite. They set Roberts up as a racist with the "War between the States" idiocy. I've got a feeling they will use the Bush hates blacks line all the way up to the Senate floor demanding that Roberts and Bush want to reenact slavery/
Howlin is betting Thomas for SJ.
I think her argument is stronger because of Left screaming racist over the New Orleans debacle.

She's a media who*e...just wanted to tell all of us how "close " she was to Rehenquist, hung around and smoked cigarettes with him. Whoopee do.

No one said a word about you participating -- it was your condescending post about two sources for a journalist which meant you didn't have a clue about this site.

Thank you for the prayer and Amen.

Jeepers... Thank you for the ping!
I join with all the Freepers here lifting Rehnquist's family and loved ones up to God for His peace, blessing and guidance.
I also join in prayers for God's grace and guidance to President Bush and this administration in dealing with all the challenges before this nation.

I'm just imagining the script for the Move America Forward ad: "Judge Clement survived Hurricane Katrina and lost her home. Now the Democrats want to keep her off the Supreme Court Bench."
To: Darksheare
Yep. We recognize them immediately.

I don't know how soundly he sleeps but he surely knows we keep praying for him, and he needs all the prayers he can get as his 'plate is full'!

First, I hope he picks Justice Thomas to replace Rhenquist as Chief Justice. After that is done, I hope he picks some staunch conservative fresh out of law school that is about 25 years old.

Prayers for Chief Justice Rehnquist's soul and for his family, as well as prayers of thanksgiving for his faithful defense of life. It is a tragedy that Judge Rehnquist never presided over a truly conservative court. I have little doubt that if he had, this native Wisconsinite would have seen to it that liberalism would have been nothing more than a footnote in 20th century history. I will also pray that his successor be just as loyal to the constitution and serve at least as long.

The Democrats will insist on stalling Roberts' hearing until Bush names a nominee for the Rehnquist seat. Dubya is a better poker player than that, he will probably wait until Roberts is confirmed to announce his nomination.

The death of Rehnquist may make the fight over Roberts even harder in the next weeks. The Dems are going to be frantic over the thought of Bush getting all these Supremes put in! The dims are not going to be the only ones frantic. I wonder if the MSM media is going to switch gears now and get off New Orleans so they can help out their fellow leftist in the upcoming Supreme Court battle.

The mircro-cephalics at DU are already in total teeth-gnashing, tongue-swallowing neural meltdown. So far it's mostly been replacing conservatives with conservatives. Wait until Stevens departs the court, then it will be WW III.
