At one point Friday, the evacuation was interrupted briefly when school buses rolled up so some 700 guests and employees from the Hyatt Hotel could move to the head of the evacuation line much to the amazement of those who had been crammed in the stinking Superdome since last Sunday.
"How does this work? They (are) clean, they are dry, they get out ahead of us?" exclaimed Howard Blue, 22, who tried to get in their line. The National Guard blocked him as other guardsmen helped the well-dressed guests with their luggage.
The 700 had been trapped in the hotel, next to the Superdome, but conditions were considerably cleaner, even without running water, than the unsanitary crush inside the dome. The Hyatt was severely damaged by the storm. Every pane of glass on the riverside wall was blown out.

Apparently you are since you can't do a simple FR search. More concerned being a Spellin' NAZI then refuting facts! But I've seen your ilk in FR. Even when your proven wrong, your never wrong! Chew on these moron:
Mayor Nagin intervened to help tourists escape New Orleans before people in Superdome
Hurricane Aussies fear for safety(racist attacks on tourists)
LOL. I damn near spit our beer (BEER!) at that graphic!
They weren't desperate for food and shelter like the infants, sick & elderly on the freeways [many of whom died due to no food or water] and the Dome.
Doc Martin must be a product of the publik skoolz because he he failed to comprehend the paragraph that explaned the reason why the guests of the hotel were moved. It was to make room for a police, fire and political headquarters. Don't let the facts get in the way, blame it on the power of those rich white guys ...
still wrong.
They need to maximize the results for the effort.
There were not "high and dry" they STILL take up relief resources. Now that they are gone. That means the others will have the resources once devoted the tourists. THOSE beds are freed up.
I do not thing anyone "died" because of getting the out of towners out of the way of those who need real help.
You should be blaming the mayor for not getting the tourists out of the way sooner. Key West, Miami, Fort Lauderdale, all clear out the hotels upon hurricane warning. This way stranded tourists do not take resources from residents.
Sorry but logistically this is 100% logical.
There may be perfectly logical reasons why this happened. But the fact is, when *some* people see this, it makes them ANGRY. Most of those won't bother to find out why it happened only that they saw rich white folks being given priority.
More race bait fuel for Jackson & Sharpton.
That post was dumb, but it cannot match the nastiness of your posts.
Bush could have landed in the middle of the Superdome in a flaming chariot, showering the refugees with manna and goldand the race pimps would still complain.
I am SO in agreement with you. I cannot FATHOM how anyone saw that monster coming towards the coast from outside Pensacola to the western state line of Louisiana STAYED where they were. That storm took up almost the entire Gulf.
If you were sitting in your home waiting for some mayor or governor or local official to tell you to leave and you were able-bodied, then you were an IDIOT.
And the mayor was an idiot to put off mandatory evacs when he looked at that storm and kept all those school buses parked where they were, never intended to help get people out ahead of time.
Those tourists had no way of getting out. They were targets, trapped, and they deserved to get the hell out of there.
Can anyone justify why the luxurious guests of the Hyatt were placed in line ahead of those that had been suffering in far worse conditions? No brainer, dude.I don't think you can.
The guests have houses/some place to return to, most likely in some other state ...
Geesh.
This SHOULD NOT be rocket science ...
This is one that I love (although I'm not sure how true it is...I'm sure it's at least fairly close!):

re: shotgun mag extensions: I have an 8-round on my Rem 870. You need to make sure that the mag extension you get does not extend past the barrel of the gun. For long extensions like the 10-round, you can also get a clamp that attaches to it plus the barrel to hold the mag extension rigid
I can.. extremely corrupt state and city government... like New Jersey..
governing an equally corrupt populace.. voted in to office by the "poor" and "disenfranchised"..
Payback is b!tch.. like Landrieu(d) the Senator.....
Were these the people who Mayor Nagan ordered the buses to drive out first? I don't know, let's ask Mayor Nagan.
