President Bush to address the nation on Hurricane Katrina...has flown by the damage on Air Force One on way back to D.C.
I'd love to hear him say we're going to start building new refineries and ask the states to lower their gas taxes!
Working to restore power. Will be repairing bridges/roads. Lots of work to do. Flyover - much destruction of infrastructure.
Strategic petroleum reserve. Production has been shut down.
Nationwide waiver regarding fuel blends. Will take some pressure off gas prices, but the storm has lowered our ability to make and distribute gasoline.
Plan to help displaced citizens, encompassing health care, education, housing, and other needs.
And we'll do it all ourselves. No international aid assistance for America, nosireee....!!
They're in the throes of trying to restore roads and repair major infrastructure (key priority). Storm has disrupted making and distributing gasoline but the EPA is doing whatever it can to develop comprehensive strategy.
He sounds it, too.
Going into the release of petroleum reserves -- EPA granted a nationwide waiver for fuel blends. AWESOME even though it was announced earlier.
Easier to make and distribute non-reformulated gasoline.
Me,too. Those NO and LA politicians did not have a clue as to what to do.
I thought Shep was going to lose it up there on that elevated roadway and I was losing it right with him - may have been the first time I have been in tune with Shep. I just let loose instead with a family member on the phone about the very thing you posted about. Just d@mmit - we are better than this!!
Cabinet to develop comprehensive strategy to rebuild.
Such devastation
My God if 78,000 people come to Houston the city will never be the same!
You know most of those people will never leave if they are brought to Houston, why would they return? nothing to go back too. This could actually affect the balance of political power in Texas.
Thanking the charities, naming Red Cross, Salvation Army and Catholic Charities. Asking for cash to be donated, designate it for hurricane relief.
I can't tell you how devastating the sights were.I would like to thank...the armies of compassion.
That she does and that we are!!
;^)
If you contribute, contribute cash. Designate for Hurricane relief.
1-800-HELP-NOW
Two weeks of waiver had better be the trial balloon for indefinite suspension of fuel blending.
Two weeks helps the immediate problem, but preserves the long-term problem.
importance of contributing cash instead of goods.
And the looters are coming, too.
Talking about lifting Clean Air Act for 2 weeks as it relates to gasoline.
Cabinet will work with local officials to develop comprehensive strategy to rebuild communities affected.
The sites today were devastating. Surrounding states that have helped - thank you.
Thanks the American Red Cross, Salvation Army, Catholic organizations and others. People are overwhelmed at how much Americans want to help them.
Please contribute cash to help to a charity of your choice but be sure to designate the gift for hurricane relief.
The folks in the GUlf Coast are going to need our help for a long time and it will be a difficult road. The challenges we face are unprecedented. But there's no doubt in my mind we'll succeed.
