The situation in New Orleans continues to deteriorate due to rising water levels and desperation. Search and rescue continues via boat and air. Authorities have announced the goal to evacuate all the remaining residents of NOLA. The New Orleans Mayor has reported numerous gas leaks throughout the city. Sporadic fires occurring. Attempts to evacuate hundreds of hospital patients from Charity Hospital and Tulane Medical Center are in process. Patients are being transported to other hospitals as far away as Florida.

The Army Corps of Engineers is at the NOLA levee breaks with current plans to drop 3000 lb sand bags in an effort to stop the flow of water. NOLA hospital evacuations continue for thousands of patients. Reports indicate all evacuees are being taken to the SuperDome, which is now surrounded by water. The generators at the Dome are now in jeopardy. The Governor of Louisiana has called for a day of prayer tomorrow...

Elsewhere, search and rescue continue in Mississippi and Alabama. Biloxi reports indicate catastrophic damage.

Yes, Peach. But the problem is HUGE. I don't know how any of those people who don't have friends or relatives to live with, are going to make it? Everything is gone.

They are bound to be seeing the bodies; and I just do not know why, unless their editors have heard from the government asking them not to number the dead until they are more certain.

They also probably want to avoid a situation where they hype "thousands dead" and turn out to be wrong.

I think they're taking a go-slow approach on this, and will come out with the bad news once they get solid figures. I can't see any other reason for holding back.

It is beyond words. I imagined it would be something like this, but the fact that it has ended up as a worst case scenario in many regions is very sad. Most people seem to be oblivious to what has happened still as well.

This new system of interest is the one behind TD13.

Just so you know, it looks like my friend might have one sister in the hospital, one sister and her mother residences destroyed, and locations unknown. Oh God, I'm starting to feel physically ill.

Horror, horror, horror.

(Sorry, folks, you're getting some unfiltered Frank_Discussion today. Pardon my moroseness.)

BTW, this isn't TD #13 that we're talking about, right? Do you have a satellite image? Thanx.

It's just off the photo on intellicast's "United States Atlantic", toward Africa. I suspect it'll show up on this afternoon's shot, though.

That's what Churches and community centers are for. It's easy to survive in this world if you're just willing to reach out and find other people willing to help.

"Like you, if they are holding back, I wonder why?"

To avert panic? There's no communications, they may not be able to handle a large influx of concerned survivors "looking" for family members. Right now, the #1 priority is saving those who are still alive. And most counties and states have laws that will not allow them to "confirm" deaths outside of the 'powers' of a coroners office.

"NOT the Salvation Army were the "thieves" during the Sept. 11 recovery."

I stand corrected.

"The Salvation Army is (shhh, don't tell anyone) a church organization."

All the more reason to contribute. I wouldn't worry about the SA being religious as the liberals rarely give money for anything but to their own selfish causes anyway.
