The situation in New Orleans continues to deteriorate due to rising water levels and desperation. Search and rescue continues via boat and air. Authorities have announced the goal to evacuate all the remaining residents of NOLA. The New Orleans Mayor has reported numerous gas leaks throughout the city. Sporadic fires occurring. Attempts to evacuate hundreds of hospital patients from Charity Hospital and Tulane Medical Center are in process. Patients are being transported to other hospitals as far away as Florida.
The Army Corps of Engineers is at the NOLA levee breaks with current plans to drop 3000 lb sand bags in an effort to stop the flow of water. NOLA hospital evacuations continue for thousands of patients. Reports indicate all evacuees are being taken to the SuperDome, which is now surrounded by water. The generators at the Dome are now in jeopardy. The Governor of Louisiana has called for a day of prayer tomorrow...
Elsewhere, search and rescue continue in Mississippi and Alabama. Biloxi reports indicate catastrophic damage.

Tropical Storm 12
My question: How did he get there and what can they do to help. I mean christ get down there at least with a camera and get this info to the authorities.
I don't need a continuing report on how bad it is. Damn it if you got time to point your camera around and jabber away you got time to get real time info to rescue crews that can get proper medical attention to people in need.
I thought the lawyers had been evacuated.
bump to news sources
I mean honestly, where do they think they're going to go with this stuff?
Just had a thought... I bet there's some drug addicts out there in serious detox. Nowhere to get their "fix".
I don't mean to pile on but she looks like the grieving Aunt at the Uncle's funeral. She does not convey confidence or hope.
Great, on top of everything else today I now have coffee all over my monitor. :-)
I heard on the radio they're planning to take them to the Astro Dome in Texas.
Like any bad animal, their self-preservation instincts are strong </homor_weak>
I heard that, too. I thought I also heard that they have to move them by boat and then bus to Houston. That is going to take a while.
Reporter said the destination signs on the fronts of 'em read 'Evacuation'...
Even yesterday some of them were carrying AK-47's.
Yes, I saw that report too....good grief!
I'm not sure anything short of an atomic bomb could have worse for this region.
"Southern Baptist Disaster Relief..."
I vote for Southern Baptist Disaster Relief. Wasn't it the Salvation Army and the Red Cross after 9-11 who had money "distribution" problems? The Red Cross uses its position to be a monopoly at disaster sites to sell stuff that is donated to them. They even charged the rescue workers for the coffee at their relief stands. They simply setup shop and sell, sell, sell. The Red Cross is by far a for-profit entity.

Could you possibly let up on how inept you think the governor is? I don't think much of her, either, but after you've said it 50 times or so we get the point.
Yeah, they were armed last night...you know...the two police women looting shoes in WalMart(caught red handed by the camera).
I haven't heard about the Salvation Army having such a problem. The Red Cross, on the other hand....
