The situation in New Orleans continues to deteriorate due to rising water levels and desperation. Search and rescue continues via boat and air. Authorities have announced the goal to evacuate all the remaining residents of NOLA. The New Orleans Mayor has reported numerous gas leaks throughout the city. Sporadic fires occurring. Attempts to evacuate hundreds of hospital patients from Charity Hospital and Tulane Medical Center are in process. Patients are being transported to other hospitals as far away as Florida.
The Army Corps of Engineers is at the NOLA levee breaks with current plans to drop 3000 lb sand bags in an effort to stop the flow of water. NOLA hospital evacuations continue for thousands of patients. Reports indicate all evacuees are being taken to the SuperDome, which is now surrounded by water. The generators at the Dome are now in jeopardy. The Governor of Louisiana has called for a day of prayer tomorrow...
Elsewhere, search and rescue continue in Mississippi and Alabama. Biloxi reports indicate catastrophic damage.

No. Taking shoes is looting--whether it's a police officer or a ordinary citizen. Do you really think they were even CONSIDERING paying the store back? If so, you're rather naive.

WWL's showing major damage, including a water tower blown down and broken apart that appears to be of a design that can withstand F-5 tornadoes. They're now relieved by the evac of the SuperDome to Houston.
Exactly -- the lady is inept. She whines and does nothing. The Navy is sending four Nolfolk ships to New Orleans -- underway now. Going to Pensacola NAS to stage out of there. Good idea -- no way to get closer to NO.
I would bet that FEMA, feds, and state/local officials will make the Astrodome very pleasant with food, beds, showers, AC etc.
Mighty nice of Texas to cancel/bump every other event at the Astrodome for the next several months.
I heard that Governor on Fox this morning, and I was embarrassed for her....she couldn't put a coherent sentence together, let alone make any feel like they will be taken care of...
But, she did remind everyone of the day of prayer...
Right after that, some city clean-up guy came on and just PRAISED the Governor and Mayor of NO...on what a great job they are doing....LOL...sigh
Did you notice on the Yahoo slide show of the hurricane they slip in a picture of Bush playing a guitar ? What an obvious slam and sly , backhanded statement. I wrote to Associated Press and scolded them for their oh so obvious dig at the president .
Then there are stories of rafts of fire ants floating in the water. That's their survival mode, form a ball around the queen and as we learned from that Orkin commercial, they can live up to 14 days in water. Heaven help you if the first solid thing the ants contact is you. Sweet mother of pearl!!!
They said a bus convoy is on its way to evac the Superdome to Houston.
Still trying to figure out how to fix the levee break, "an engineering nightmare" says the gov.
That's the news, film at 11.
Drudge Headline (Siren): "BUSH CONSIDERS ADDRESS TO NATION; CALL FOR ENERGY CONSERVATION"
I am thinking that the hospital ship that was at the Tsunami will be needed for a long time...
FOX just started to discuss this right now. They are currently showing pics of Navy ships leaving Norfolk headed to the Gulf.
Also discussing Robert Kennedy's attack yesterday on the hurricane being the result of global warning.
I agree .. it's much better then where they are at now
Lady on Fox said the Dems blaming Bush and Barbour for the hurricanes is shameful.
That's Tammy Bruce
Sigh. The lefties make me sick. They filter every damned thing through the lens of their "issues."
It is unbelieveable how bad this Governor has been through all of this -- everything is a set up but you cannot make an inept person look good. As the lady said on Fox News, the Democrats blaming Bush, Barbour and Republicans doesn't fly right now.
Duh. I can see how military coups can happen, now. Never was quite able to understand what might precipitate such. (Not that I am advocating such. She should either step aside, or keep her mouth shut.)
Nothing happening here.
Jeff Parish Prisoners are now at Angola, some women prisoners are in a remote camp at Angola that used to be for trustees who are now back in the main prison. Prisoners from all over Orleans and other parishes are going to Angola. The state prison system seems to have its act together. Burl Cain is ready.
I don't know why all 25 thousand have to go to Texas. Why not use smaller numbers at various locations. I would be the churches alone would each take a group and care for them. Just drop them off at the thousands of churches here. People one to one are amazingly helpful. If I were in charge, I would have someone on the horn to every mayor in every little town in La and say "how many can you take care of" and in short order I guarantee these people would be dispersed to caring people. This is a long term problem. Things are not going to settle in a week.
WWL Blog reports: Lower Garden Wal Mart looted according to the New Orleans Times Picayune paper, all guns taken.
Thanks! I was laughing at what she was saying but when Warren came on I turned off Fox -- cannot stand that twerp!
