The situation in New Orleans continues to deteriorate due to rising water levels and desperation. Search and rescue continues via boat and air. Authorities have announced the goal to evacuate all the remaining residents of NOLA. The New Orleans Mayor has reported numerous gas leaks throughout the city. Sporadic fires occurring. Attempts to evacuate hundreds of hospital patients from Charity Hospital and Tulane Medical Center are in process. Patients are being transported to other hospitals as far away as Florida.
The Army Corps of Engineers is at the NOLA levee breaks with current plans to drop 3000 lb sand bags in an effort to stop the flow of water. NOLA hospital evacuations continue for thousands of patients. Reports indicate all evacuees are being taken to the SuperDome, which is now surrounded by water. The generators at the Dome are now in jeopardy. The Governor of Louisiana has called for a day of prayer tomorrow...
Elsewhere, search and rescue continue in Mississippi and Alabama. Biloxi reports indicate catastrophic damage.

The areas they showed of Slidell were not too bad, but they were mostly interviewing people leaving the area.
can you post your slidell info here?

Cooper sounded like he was having a heart attack. couldn't catch his break and having a heard time breathing. He always seems a bit girly to me anyway. (and that's putting it mildly)
Do you UNDERSTAND that that was her ONLY response to what she was going to do tomorrow when Larry King was doing a round robin of his guests in asking them there plan of action tomorrow?
Sorry, but a day of prayer is not going to save ALL of these people on it's own.
:-)
Trapped, but not in immediate danger of drowning. That's a huge difference.
We'll see similar problems when San Francisco has the great quake. Like 1906, many people will survive the quake but be killed by the fire afterward. The gas and water pipes underground are antiquated and fragile. Local officials admitted a few years ago that nothing could (or would) be done about it.
Hope not, 'cause I already said it... ;D
What I would like to know is how are they going to force people to leave now? Does "martial law" give them the right to forceably remove people? It would seem bizarre that someone would want to stay, but if looting is going on, there might be those that want to loot and will try to stay in town?
Not living in an area where there have been calls of evacuation (either voluntary or mandatory), I am ignorant of the legal differences, especially in Louisiana. I do know that "mandatory" evacuations are often called in other states, and that there is typically no mention of a legal authority to seize private vehicles/property with those announcements.
I recommend the CRT type, they float better than the newer models.
That's not the worst of it: poor Shep is running out of feminine hygeine products...
It's about to get ugly.
Oh but, if he had been jacking around with a girlfriend insteaad of taking care of businnes, all would be forgiven and he would be a hero. Sick Sick
Not sure if I heard this in the past or just came up with it... but it seems to me if they named Hurricanes after men or scary things... people would take the warnings more seriously!
That makes even less sense. Are you with me? Maybe God is rising the Gulf 20 feet out of spite. Taht is how much sense it makes.
Importance for whom ??
No one in Louisiana has power to hear word one of anything on CNN !
(are you series ?)
Again, I only say-- she may not be up to the task (as the Mayor is not either), but I do believe she is trying to the best of her abilities.
I'm sure all the relief agencies would be more than grateful for your help. There's a list of contact info for them at the beginning of this thread. Bless you.
That's so awful that we're trying to make your post go away. Denial.
Fifteen feet! NO will indeed be the "New Atlantis", as some are calling it.
People were trapped in the fallen structures of SF, then the fires consumed them.....Fires were started by people without earthquake insurance, candles, and the army blew up a lot of houses too as firebreaks.
