The situation in New Orleans continues to deteriorate due to rising water levels and desperation. Search and rescue continues via boat and air. Authorities have announced the goal to evacuate all the remaining residents of NOLA. The New Orleans Mayor has reported numerous gas leaks throughout the city. Sporadic fires occurring. Attempts to evacuate hundreds of hospital patients from Charity Hospital and Tulane Medical Center are in process. Patients are being transported to other hospitals as far away as Florida.
The Army Corps of Engineers is at the NOLA levee breaks with current plans to drop 3000 lb sand bags in an effort to stop the flow of water. NOLA hospital evacuations continue for thousands of patients. Reports indicate all evacuees are being taken to the SuperDome, which is now surrounded by water. The generators at the Dome are now in jeopardy. The Governor of Louisiana has called for a day of prayer tomorrow...
Elsewhere, search and rescue continue in Mississippi and Alabama. Biloxi reports indicate catastrophic damage.

Its not Bush's fault. I swear the fact of blaming everything on the head guy is I know a natural thing to do. But it was an consistent lacking of planning for over two decades by all sorts of people in power. If there had been no Iraq war that money would not have been spent in time to prevent I suspect and would have been a drop in the bucket. By the way coastal funds event though not neaarly enough went up this yeaar in the budget
< "Where do we go now? Nobody tells us where to go." >
They were told where to go 4 days ago.
Hey I believe you..its her thats hard to believe!!
Cooper's in Biloxi.
Someone from down there, maybe FEMA guy, just said there were 37,750 people in shelters.
How fast is your dialup?
They are not counting bodies now and have warned people not to touch them. The count will go much higher.
Why are they still sending people to the Dome? It is a mass epidemic waiting to happen...malaria, typhoid, west nile fever.
This is unbelievable.
"have the looters carry their loot to the levee"
Excellent - that is far more concrete than what the govt of La and NO have done to prepare for levee breaks in the last 100 years.
"To: jeffers
"I think we're past plugging holes"
I am afraid you are right - and its sad to think that the euphoria of yesterday afternoon has turned to tragedy with the levee failure today."
Yes, people didn't wise up yesterday.
This isn't over yet.
As much as is possible, we need to be looking forward right now.
Yes, I caught a few hateful comments toward President Bush from Aaron Brown. Libs are so pathetic.
Haley Barbour said to Larry King that Bush was itching to come down and had asked to come to Mississippi, but Barbour said not yet. Landrieu said he is coming on Friday.
WWL News confirmed that number also. I tend to think that is closer to the number. Sunday evening the National Guard said the number had exceeded the expected 30,000, and they've continually sent people there since.
It was the early portion of the video where it appeared land was beyond the horizon that made me immediately recognize the PC. Oh well...maybe CNN knows more than the rest of us.
"Basically, 2-5 % here want to blame him because he's black.
Respectfully, that's just BS. Most of us blame him because het met with lawyers to determine whether he had the legal authority to order a mandatory evacuation. It took the president to get him off the dime."
1. You haven't read all the responses here I have!
2. He may have screwed up there. Doesn't matter. Not the cause of the levee wall disasters.
Lot of people wouldn't leave anyway.
I felt better seeing some footage of Mississippi officers throwing a couple of looters thru a broken door. That was kind treatment-if you ask me.
Haha! Maybe its just me, but MSNBC is replaying the last hour from tape... I'm flipping around looking for "new" news, btw.
That's right....
I stand corrected.
